    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8805 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

So with Azz's run ended and the current story about the Amazons, I got to thinking about past stories about them and who has done them best. My personal favorite is the Perez run. His Amazons were indeed flawed but also humanized and easy to sympathize or at least empathize with. You understood their fear for the outside world and genuinely wanted to see them change.

I love scenes like this were you can see both sides of the argument. You can tell Diana's heart is in the right place, but you can also see Hellene's reluctance and why she feels that way.

So what are you guys' thoughts?

Marston. I haven't read silver age stuff but considering that they've either been written horribly or just erased all together it's easy to pick. Ideally they'd be a mix of marston and some other stories but overall the Amazon's and themyscira really are meant to be a great back story for the character but not the site of much conflict. themyscira as a whole is meant to be more of wonder woman's bat cave as opposed to her Asgard

Marston, though I didn't finish that yet. But I believe Themyscira should be Wonder Woman's Metropolis/Gotham, rich in history and science and teeming with life, a place deserving of a "Fly to Themyscira with Turkish Airlines" super bowl commercial.

Right now, it sounds like Grant Morrison, based off of his Earth 2 Wonder Woman book.

Perez, but Jimenez wrote the best Themyscira stories. He did "Paradise Lost" the two issue civil war between the Grecian and Bana Amazons, the Themyscira rebirth that made it a floating series of islands and he gave us the super cool invisible chariots that all the Amazons used for transportation and outer space battles.
