    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8805 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

I know she had something with Steve Trevor before he married Etta Candy. And I know she's dated Nemesis (Thomas Tresser). Who else has she been linked to romantically?

I'm just curious, does anyone have problem with Wonder Woman dating a girl next? I'm not talking about the way someone like Jeff Loeb would handle it, where they're making out, and there's no character development. I mean a genuine relationship between two people who just happen to be of the same sex.

This probable isn't the place to bring it up, so I apologize in advance, but I was just curious.

Fore the record, I wouldn't have a problem with Diana dating women as long as it's handled with respect and not like a porno.

@E.I.S.A.M.:  I would have a problem with it, simply because she has never shown that sort of preference in the past. It wouldn't make sense.

I know they went on a date (sort of) at least once in the past, but I think they agreed in the end of that particular story that being more than friends wouldn't be very sucessful.

Exactly. She spent hundreds of years on an island with no men, and what, she never went on a date? Gail Simone even implied that amazons, when looking for love, don't look at gender or appearance, they look into someone's heart. I can't remember the specific issue, but I think it's during or after the Genocide saga. In more or less words, it has been established that she could fall for a woman. But I mean, if she could fall for nemesis, anyone's up for grabs:)

I was under the impression that the Amazons wern't big on love in general. But anyway, I'm with the group saying WW coming out of the closet would be way out of left field. From a story standpoint, if she was interested in dating women she probably would have said something about it by now, it's not like she'd be ashamed of it.

Batman, for about a year in JLA.  The whole thing started around the Obsidian Age and finished up during Fernus, I think.  She also had an interest in him during the League cartoon.

He didn't specify romantic love. As far as romantic love is concerned, gender is pretty important, depending on if you're gay, strait, or by. A gay guy isn't going to go out with a woman because he thinks she's got a good heart. They could be close friends, but there wouldn't be an attraction.

Wonder Woman inspires LOVE. She represents love, and with it, her people, who found peace and love together without men.
I'm not saying she should jump the bones of a woman she just met, that would be tacky. I mean, what if she met someone who was as strong and likable of a character as Lois Lane, Mary-Jane Watson, Veronica Mars and Rose Tyler? What if they built to it, treated it seriously, and made it one of those great romances in comics?
And why dose she have to announce her sexual orientation to the world? It's nobody's business. She spent a hundred+ years on an island with no men. What was she doing, fighting, eating, and sleeping? That's dull. It certainly doesn't make her a good candidate fro being an ambassador of peace and love if all she was doing was fighting, sleeping, and eating.

    @E.I.S.A.M.:
I don't say she would "jump the bones" of women she just met either. Also she doesn't have to announce it to the world, but it's not like she'd keep it a secret from EVERYONE. That would imply she's deeply ashamed of it, and that doesn't fit Wonder Woman. I'm not saying it wouldn't work if it was well done, and tasteful, and if it was always obvious Wonder Woman was attracted to girls. But as is, it just doesn't make sense. Even if she was attracted to girls, the fact that she's only expressed interest in guys seems to show that she strongly prefers them.

And since Wonder Woman hardly dates at all, it seems to me Amazons don't exactly crave companionship. Maybe there is other stuff to do on the island :P. If all they could do is eat, sleep, and fight for a few hundred years they'd go insane even if you add occasional lesbo sex.

I would only because it Wondy dating guys makes sense as she came from a group of feminist warriors to explore Man's World, and it would make sense if she dated guys.

Sorry to quote a 3 year old post but I would love to see this. Make the relationship 100% sexless. Hand holding at the most. Focus on the people. It's already been implied that here friend in Superman/Wonder Woman is bisexual so it makes sense.

I agree actually. I see no logical reason why Wonder Woman would only be attracted to men given she is raised on an island of Woman. I find it highly unlikely they wouldn't be in relationships with one another - especially given the way they reproduce by essentially doing 1 night stands.

I wouldn't even care if wrote sex scenes. Read Batwoman, she's a lesbian but it just who she is, not a gimmick to attract readers. She's been drawn kissing and even had a black and white "sex scene".

Besides, I don't really like any one of relationships with males. Steve is boring to me and Bruce/Clark shouldn't happen imo. Its unprofessional at best.

I feel the same way. None of them feel like they work. I don't mind her with Superman like everyone else. They've had chemistry for years so it's shouldn't be a big surprise.

:I don't hate it, but I don't really care for it either.

I'm reading the book because the art is so damn good and the fights seem to be intriguing. The cover with Superman/WW vs Zod and Faora was pretty sick lol.

So I'll read it for a while.

I think it could work just as good or better if it was just a Superman/WW book where they're friends though.
