The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
well i knew the old one longer since i grew up with her, but i won't lie and say that i'm not digging this new 52 diana she reminds me of xena so i love it.
What do you mean by "classic"? Are we talking 1942? 1986? This character has been around a long time - it's kind of hard to divide her into "Last two years" vs. "Previous 70 years."

Why? That's exactly what DC did. New origin, new personality, new costume, new Amazons, new family, new supporting cast, new powers, new boyfriend, plus new title...'God of War'. For all intents and purposes she's a new character with an old name.
Previous to new 52, there was an underlying consistency. Paradise Island was attractive, beautiful and majestic. WW was warm and friendly even to her enemies most of the time. WW connected with a myriad number of humans, not just the mom of her half sibling which seems to be her primary mission now.
WW was peace and truth which put her as a threat to War, not his favored pupil.
It is probably not uncommon to think from Perez forward though. No one seems to miss the secret identity.
@scorpio_cassadine: I never said the New 52 isn't a new direction, I'm just pointing out that there have been new directions in the past as well. Remember the late 70s run where she lost her powers and became a kind of Jame Bond action star? Is that part of the "Classic" version you're talking about? I was just trying to make the point that the 70 years before the New 52 had plenty of major changes and shake-ups as well, and that "classic" Wonder Woman isn't as stable a thing as some of you are making it out to be.
Well I do think Azzerello's Wonder Woman is pretty good, but part of my interest in the character came from the sort of big sister vibe she gave off when she was around Batman and Superman.
