I think it'd be cool if Wonder Woman got a gay brother. Maybe re-introduce Donna Troy as Daniel Troy, Wonder Woman's exotic gay brother. What do you think?
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8804 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
What if Wonder Woman had a gay brother?
More gay characters in comics is good, but altering Donna Troy may bother fans.
I'm not an expert on Wonder Woman, so maybe this'll not make sense as a question, but if she's from a society of women, what would be a way to write in a brother?
Would he just be called Wonder Boy?
@feelgood: no but making a male side kick for WW gay or straight is fine with me
@v_scarlotte_rose: With WW currently being the daughter of Zeus, and how promiscuous the Greek gods were, it wouldn't be that hard to write in a gay brother. Though with her Amazonian origins they likely wouldn't have a shared background history.

That makes sense I suppose. :)
Deviating thread. Wonder woman should be gay from all reasonable explanation of her backgrounds. I mean come on making her straight is bizarre.
Could you elaborate on this for a non-Wonder Woman reader?

@shonen3: I don't think that really comes across as why she should/must be, but more how she could have been rewritten that way.
She did have a gay brother,
They called him "The Boy Wonder"
They were pretty much family
Honestly, I don't think it would be tasteful to associate a gay character with the Amazons, but a general homosexual Greek God doesn't seem too far off...
I'm not really found of the Zeus thing in general but I guess it could be interesting is she had a long lost twin brother. Actually lately I've been playing with the idea of a transgender Robin, but that's another thing that will never happen.
@fallschirmjager: except Supes of course.

no. that relationship is lame. I enjoy the book, but its not because they're dating.
her with Batman is equally lame. so is Trevor.
Donna Troy should stay as female since sometimes Diana ´s magical clone/sister, and Troy come from Helen of Troy due to her beauty.
A gay chracter why not. But at least dont make the LGBT character as only and first mark, she/he should be warrior/ Wonder first and LGBT character as secundary character.
I think it would be stupid.
How so? Wonder Woman would be far more relatable if she had a gay brother. Look at all the females in the world with gay brothers. She would be like them, loving and accepting. Think of all the additional fans that would bring in, and how good Wonder Woman would look in that light.
@feelgood: I sincerely hope you're joking, because that's a ridiculous point at best.
@feelgood Diana doesn't need a gay relative to be more "loving" and "relatable".
@squares: @wonderwomanfan8: Do you not know the impact a gay relative would have on Wonder Woman? Wonder Woman would be in the limelight, and she'd be covered on many news sites. Gay fans would actually have an interest in her. This is something Wonder Woman could use to make her a more interesting character for many, and give her more coverage from major sources.
@jphulk26: Wonder Woman is bisexual, can gay fans not identify with that?
Daniel Adonis, like the god of beauty and desire. I love Donna Troy even with fact she dies, change her story and power up and downpower her everytime she appears. But seeing her as boy would look alike different person, and i dont mean literaly. I wont mind if for exemple, Jason Todd was bissexual or Barbara Gordon and Black Canary were lesbian couple.
But i am ok LGTB character on Wonder Woman or with amazons.
@feelgood So giving her a gay brother will make her more relatable and interesting. Are you saying that Wonder Woman as she now is not isn't relatable or interesting? Just trying to make sure I'm understanding you.
If I am, I hear what you're saying. But, her displays of lovingness and acceptance towards this character would be too dependent by responding to his orientation. Although, I can see how it may seem beneficial to cater to a niche market like the LGBT community. But where are the receipts? This topic seems to suppose that Diana isn't loving or accepting enough of others. I could be wrong about that assessment. By default, Diana should be loving and accepting as is.

I don't think catering to the gay demographic is something WW needs to do more of, as she appears to be very popular in that segment already, more so than any other big name character within the Big 2 for that matter.
Anyways I am going to go out on a limb and assume that people who are gay don't necessarily pick up every book that features a positive gay character. Like everyone else, they will pick up the books that interest them for the stories, not that they contain a character meant to draw them in.
@outside_85: More gays would be able to relate to the story, meaning gays would be more likely to buy the book. If Wonder Woman had a hot gay brother, gays would be more interested and there would be "eye candy" for them. Superman and Batman are "eye candy" for gay men. Wonder Woman is not. That's a big difference between the big 3. If Wonder Woman got some eye candy for gay men, more would be interested in picking up the book, and they'd be able to relate to the story more.
Wonder Woman's gay brother would be story gold. Imagine if one of Wonder Woman's villains (maybe Circe) disguised themselves as a hot gay man, and dated him. Planning to get to Wonder Woman, ruin her life, and turn her brother against her. That would be one amazing storyline.
Maybe make him and Bunker an item. Both positive, upbeat gay men. That would be awesome.

Theres not a whole lot of things I can agree with here. Diana is already very popular amongst gay men by the looks of it, and it has nothing to do with her being a woman or straight.
Besides if you want to add a hot gay male just to boost sales a little... well Stormwatch had two of them and it's sales was in the gutter.
Well, Greek culture was quite sexually open, so by extension so should Amazonian (?). Though honestly, having a gay character shouldn't be as big a deal as some people are making it out to be. And for god's sake, even Percy Jackson has a gay character.
Does he have any traits other than being gay or will it just be pandering? That's what matters.
And for god's sake, even Percy Jackson has a gay character.
Good point. Another mythological series has a gay male, why shouldn't Wonder Woman?
This has to be one the stupidest threads on the Wonder Woman forum. Has everyone already forgotten Achilles Warkiller? He was Wonder Woman's gay male counterpart and momentarily became the King of Themyscira. He also rode a flying elephant with two heads, how could you forget that?
@scorpio_cassadine: Where is he now? And what I'm suggesting is way different from that character. The character I'm suggesting would have lots of contact with Wonder Woman, because they're related. Wonder Woman would be like a big sister to this character, and she'd be like a mentor to him. She'd be totally accepting of him, and protect him when needed (though he could protect himself just fine). So, basically this would give Wonder Woman a more sisterly, almost motherly personality and make her much more loving and accepting and protective.
This would be story gold, I feel. As said before, Wonder Woman's enemies could totally use that to their advantage to get to her.
@feelgood: Wonder Woman is already a gay icon, there's no need for overkill. The whole New 52 version is an effort to "degayify" her and make her acceptable to straight men. They knocked off a lot of glitter and sparkles, I don't see DC reversing course now.
They should reaffirm that she's a champion for the disenfranchised (women, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered community, minorities, etc.) but DC is afraid of making her too political. That's why they moved her to England to avoid patriotic connotations, and barely let her inspire girls. Something so commonplace before, has happened only once in the New 52. They don't want her to come off as preachy, or worse, possibly alienate men.
As far as your proposal goes, why not make Lennox gay when he comes back from the dead? (You know they wouldn't have his cracked, crumbling, severed, head as decoration for Diana's apartment if he wasn't getting resurrected eventually.)
@feelgood: Instead of introducing a new character and trying to tie him in to the existing WW mythology, why not just use Apollo. He's a Greek deity (twin brother of Artemis), so it would be extremely easy to insert him into WW's supporting cast, and bisexual. According to Greek mythology, Apollo has had at least two male lovers that I can think of: Hyacinth and Cyparissus. There, an LGBT character for those who want more diversity (in terms of sexual orientations) that doesn't rewrite an existing character (thereby not angering the fanbase). Everybody wins.
