in the present day, like the Amazons. How would you feel about that.

Like the other Lantern Corps, or the people in Aquaman with the golen weapons.

  • Similarly, not only was the Green Lantern foe Sinestro once a Green Lantern himself, inPost Crisis continuity he actually trained Hal Jordan in the use of his powers before becoming his nemesis.
    • Recently, there are even more popping up, but not all evil (so sort of non-evil counterparts to the evil counterparts): while the green represents will, and yellow represents fear, there's now violet (love), blue (hope), red (rage), orange (greed), and indigo (compassion). And eventually black (death), which is the really evil counterpart.

In Greek mythology the Gargareans were an all-male tribe. They had sex with the Amazons annually in order to keep both tribes reproductive. Varying accounts suggest that they may have been kidnapped, raped, and murdered for this purpose, or that they may have had relations willingly. The Amazons kept the female children, raising them as warriors, and gave the males to the Gargareans.

In Gail Simone's Wonder Woman they were created by Zeus as a replacement for the Amazons. They were given an island called Thalarian off the coast of Themyscira with crystal cities and a river of gold. Their champion Achilles was designed to take Wonder Woman's place as Warkiller. Wonder Woman whipped his ass a few times and then he and his boyfriend moved into the Playboy mansion. Nothing ever came of the island of men 300 mile from Themyscira.

During the Perez run there was said to be several lost tribes of Amazons, but the only one Wonder Woman found were the women of Bana-Mighdall.

@LeeSensei: I think it would be interesting, especially to explain where they came from and how they lived so long.
