I think it's fair to say fans had mixed opinions on the last bit of news regarding the upcoming CW show. The summary wasn't met well by many, and Wonder Woman's name being "Iris" instead of Diana wasn't very promising. Thankfully, both Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns have implied the name was used as a code name in an attempt to keep spoilers from leaking. Well, it's less than a week later and we're already getting more news about the show.

i09 says a casting call for Wonder Woman is underway and they've managed to get their hands on the script pages being used for auditions. Based on what they've read, it sounds like the program is trying to stay close to Diana's comic book roots and Steve Trevor plays a prominent role (he has the code name "Pete") . It's worth noting that the pilot script hasn't been completed yet.

The website got a glance at two scenes. The first consists of Steve crashing on Diana's island. He's tied to a chair and she's interrogating him. She's under the impression he means harm to the island (terrorist or part of an invasion). The site claims Steve's script is a mesh of charming and snarky. They compared his personality to Damon from Vampire Diaries meshed with Tommy from Arrow.

The second scene has Steve and Diana at a diner in the United States. She's overly enthusiastic about the variety of food the outside world offers. The highlight is a moment veeeery inspired by When Harry Met Sally when she tries ice cream for the first time.

Does this news give you some hope about the show or are you skeptical?

Personally I would love to have two shows to look forward too every week and I can't get enough of Arrow.

A scene inspired by when Harry met sally.... No. No, they couldn't do something that stupid to Wonder Woman. If there's one thing I learned from watching TV and movies, it's that most writers fail horribly when trying to write women, especially superheroes. This does not sound promising. I guarantee, at some point in the series there will be an entire story arc devoted to Diana's fears about losing her virginity.

If the Pilot script isn't finished then I'm assuming these pages were written just for auditions. The initial information wasn't true to the source material in the least bit. If there is an actual Themiscyra instead of her being from "a war torn country" than we're moving in the right direction.

Wonder Woman fans are effin crazy and they need to get this $hit right for us lol.

She probably does have superpowers.She is as fast as a cheetah and is Superstrong. WW wouldn't have flight until the end.I imagine Steve Trevor crashes on the Island and the Amazons hold a competition on who gets to take him back.Whoever wins gets to go to the Man's world but they can never return back to Paradise Island.Diana's mom doesn't let her in the contest but she disguises herself to enter and she wins it.She also wins the mantle of WW and gets her gear.

I'm skeptical about this. I don't really think Arrow is the greatest show around...

This sounds SO much better than what i was expecting. Alright, I'm officially interested now.

Both scenes sound like they're copying the animated W.W. movie! If you're going to copy a pre-existing W.W. show/film, then you might as well copy the Lynda Carter series as that was the only good one.

I feel a pinch better about Iris being a code-name, but I still have HUGE doubts that this will be any good.

I'm pretty excited for this. I'll be happy if it is at the same quality as Arrow - which is better than I expected for a CW show.

I'm excited but ad as well as they probably won't air it till about 6 months after its done here in NZ. Been no signs that Arrow will be aired here either. Sigh.

This looks better and they say it's true to the comic books. CW seems to do some comic books stuff like Smallville and Arrow well. Let's hope it like those two.

I quite enjoy The CW for my teen drama fix whenever I fancy it (I get bored and I watch a lot of TV), and since Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Supernatural and Smallville before them have all been really good, I guess I can give them the benefit of the doubt.

Then again...shows like Beauty and the Beast and The Secret Circle also exist....

Waiting patiently, as usual, to see what will become of this.

this will be the best tv series out along with arrow and supernatural. cw makes the best choices and decisions and ideas.

the thing is... comic books aren't real life obviously. the characters are drawn and don't actually resemble anyone in the way we recognize people in real life. so, comics rely on costumes and consistant depictions of character and appearance to communicate who these characters are supposed to be. if you take all those accepted representations away and start doing your own thing with those characters when it hits tv or film, they tend to not be recognizable anymore and the project looses and resemblance to the source material and subsequently fan interest. i with Hollywood would take this to heart (poor Lois Lane).

anyhow, here's to hoping she keeps her powers too. doubtful though.

Smallville tv Clark had many powers and he used mostly strength and run around like the Flash in all 10 seasons. Cw Diana Prince will probably have at least strength and the lasso.

I'm always more relieved when people "stay close to the comic book roots" but in Wonder Woman's case, I hope they pick from the right stories. Wonder Woman has had her fair share of lackluster stories mostly due to her lackluster villains. . Here's how I'd map the show, TL;DR is start with George Perez, include some Greg Rucka, avoid Amazons Attack at all costs.

Start with Gods and Mortals: Basic origin story, Ares is the big bad, throw in Diana's friendship with Barbara Minerva once she arrives in the World of Men.

Follow up with Challenge of the Gods combined with the current Cheetah arc in Justice League: Barbara Minerva becomes the Cheetah, Diana tries to save her from herself.

You need to have Down to Earth in there, include a one-shot or 2 parter set around The Hiketeia (but with Steve Trevor or the government in place of Batman)

War of the Gods can sort of be worked in which could lead into the first arc of the New52 Wonder Woman.

The end of season 2, you get Diana back to Themyscira, introduce Artemis and set up The Contest. Season 3 is when you have Artemis' run as Wonder Woman, and The Challenge of Artemis.

Somewhere in there you can have The Circle and Ends of the Earth.

Sounds a lot like the cartoon from a few years ago.

So, not only did they piss off countless fans, but the news leaked anyways? Leave it to the folks over at DC and the CW to make themselves look like morons before a show even starts.

Anyways, I suspect this will last a season or two. How much creative freedom do people really get on the CW channel anyways? For every iota of an interesting plotline in Arrow or Smallville, the amount of sheer stupidity and generic cliches compounded on the show until it became just something people would watch out of amusement. Remember how they ran out of things to do on Smallville and just started introducing every DC character they could?

Just keep David Kelley away from it.

Ill be the first to admit that when i saw who was playing WW in the NBC pilot i wasn't too happy & i bashed it without even seeing the pilot but i came across on YT the WW pilot and it wasn't that bad, it seemed like if we waited a few eps it would have picked up. I am reading these comments about everyone already complaining about the show when yall haven't even seen it. Please give it a chance and then make your pick. Also I understand that we all want to see the comic version of everything but when people make these films/shows its their interpretation of the character. Great example Bane! nowhere in the Dark Knight Rises did he take a hit off Venom to get buff n he wasn't that close to the comic character but you all liked it. Same with this, Open your mind a little as you did for Christopher Nolan version of the Dark Knight & enjoy this WW show or you can all bash it & have it get cancelled while continuing to complain.

This. Arrow is too dark and gritty for my tastes. There needs to be a touch of fun and fantasy to the show for it to be enjoyable. And Wonder Woman having actual superpowers is indicative of th show going in the right direction.

So they had to take other characters from Vampire Dairies and Arrow to make Steve Trevor sound interesting...Damon and Tommy? Okay so Trevor never had a personality then. Yeah got you. And when Harry met Sally moment...they really saying things to make you roll your eyes.
