    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8805 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

this would be my pick for ww

She's way too young. And she's with Marvel. Lawrence is adorable though. You can't not love that girl.

Marvel characters. If I saw her with black hair I could be persuaded to change my mind possibly. New 52 WW looks young. I've seen worse picks.

    Pass.

She's going to be filming Hunger games movies for the next 2 years anyway, doubt it would logistically work.

Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress and beautiful. However, she isn't WW. She's too babyfaced.

@crom_cruach: Unfortunately Lynn Collins is 36. They would run into the same problem with the X-Men movies where Famke Jenssen age really started to show as the series went on.

oviously you dont see the idea behind building franchises. most of the actresses people demand to play wonder woman are in there late thirties or mid 40's. sure they may work for one film but you have to think long term when making a franchise wether its a trilogy or more than a trilogy. that is why casting some younger is the best way to go. also note with the success of the hungers games movies jennifer lawrence is bringing that stardom and fan base to a comic book film. thats not always a bad thing either because it all boils down to asses in seats and ticket sales. why do you think most trilogies are shot back to back now? it is to preserve a actors age so they look the same and it also avoids contractual issues. thats why avatar 2, 3 and 4 are going that route since zoe saldana is already in her thirties and the first one took 4 years to make. why do you think someone like a nathan fillion hasnt been cast in a leading comic book role? dude is 45 or 46 takes rougly about 2 years to make a film and even if a sequel is green lit your looking at another 2 years for announcment plus an additional 2 years for production filming and polishing up in regards to cgi or w/e. he would already be close to 50 or at least 50 by then

And that's not enough franchises for you? She has an Oscar and stars in one of the biggest hits of the year, she has enough respect and exposure, give someone else a chance. And no I don't mean Gal Gadot, give her a sandwich.

i try not to beat this drum but the same was stated about rdj as iron man or ledger as joker and yet they both ended up bringing the best to the charachters they played. whos to say that kind of lightning cant hit with gal gadot or even jennifer lawrence? she already does a fine job in x-men . hell i will go even further and say i liked anne hathaway as catwoman even though one scene in particular felt kinda comicial ( when she sets up the guy in the bar with the politician and she screams). other than that little issue i thought she was fine as selina kyle

i may not know who she is or what show that is your posting but a studio is going to want someone who has star power. look i may be pro gal gadot but if you clearly think about it the only reason why she was cast is simply because the fast franchise is a 2 billion dollar franchise. she may have had a small role but when it comes to studios there going to want anything that puts asses into seats. why do you think vin diesel is voicing groot? you really believe his work iron giant from many years ago just opened that door? nope but vin has stared in 2 successful franchises and that right there is what draws attention and money. its all star power bro. anyone from a tv show may be great but no studio is going to be like hey get me the chick from whatever show on whatever channel.

You think they hired Gadot based on star power?!?! No one knows who she is! She was in the one movie. Diesel was cast for voice work because of his kick ass voice. Iron Giant came out in the late '90's and was one of his first roles. Bale and even Cavil had more "star power" than she does. Snyder hand picked her and the studio trusts him. The fans do not.

iron giant came out in like 98 or 99........ vin is only in because of how much money fast and furious made plus the riddick franchise. its not like iron giant just came out and became this big hit. its an old movie

as far as gal gadot. yea she may of had a small role but it dosent change the fact that she was in one of the top grossing franchises. you dont have to be the main star to be apart of a very successful franchise

Vin is Groot because of his voice was my point. Same reason they cast him as Iron Giant. Groot probably came along a little easier because of who he is though.

There are plenty of actresses that fit the part of WW tens times better than Gadot and have had bigger roles in bigger movies.

Lol there I agree with you! I chalk that up to his roles in The A-Team, Limitless and especially The Hangover instead of his awards though. That was definitely star power they were after. It'll work too because people like him.

what about bradley cooper? lets be real if he didnt win the awards he got he wouldnt be on this hyped list of stars to be casted. nothing against him but it is true.

Lol there I agree with you! I chalk that up to his roles in The A-Team, Limitless and especially The Hangover instead of his awards though. That was definitely star power they were after. It'll work too because people like him.

see for me when i think of casting i think of more than just a trilogy sometimes i sit here and imagine ok what if i got so and so to play a charachter how far can that movie make it as a long lasting cinematic franchise? how old is a specific actor or actress. i have said before id love maggie siff to be wonder woman but realisticly she is 39 so by the time a sequel or 2 is out she will already be in her 40's. i think someone like a jennifer lawrence is perfect because shes only 22 or 23 and i could shape mold build and create a movie with someone like that. the one person people keep posting i have no idea who that is or what show that is but at the end of the day big studios are going to want someone who puts asses into seats hence bradley cooper for rocket raccoon and the funny thing is the last 2 fast films gained more money because the rock was in them . when people hear coopers or the rocks name you know tickets will sell fast. i am also a big believer in using lesser known people because we dont see it like we use to. thats why im ok with gal as wonder woman. yea shes a model big deal. harrison ford was a carpenter before getting into movies like american graffiiti wich nobody even remembers and star wars and nobody complained ..

If I were casting I'd probably think along the same lines as you. Maggie Siff is beautiful and if she were cast I'd be ok with that. She looks like Wonder Woman. Being only 5ft 6in isn't as big a deal as not looking like the character at all haha. That's my issue with Gal. Nothing to do with her notoriety. It would have been SO easy to find someone that looks like Diana. For example I typed in "Black hair + Blue eyes" into Google images and there are a bunch. My favorite being the 3rd. Serinda Swan. Might recognize her from Smallville. People's biggest issue with Gal is how skinny she is and yes while she's horribly skinny with a small frame to build on, it's the least of her inconsistencies.

@tazzmission: Oh and the woman that Crom posted is Lynn Collins and the picture is a screen cap from John Carter of Mars. Came out a couple years ago. Jamie Alexander is also a common choice. Sif from Thor.

@pokeysteve: But, ironically, black hair and blue eyes are the easiest of any traits for Hollywood to change. A dye job and a set of colored contacts and any actress can fit that description. Acting is what really counts, and we don't have a large enough body of work on Gal Gadot to know how she'll pull off the acting part one way or the other.

Remember, Thor, Captain America, and Man of Steel all used relative unknowns and they all worked out pretty well. Hell, Christian Bale wasn't exactly a household name or huge ticket draw prior to the Nolan Batman films either (though his acting chops were well established by then) and he worked out great.

Until we know more we should probably just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Routh wore blue contacts for Superman Returns and sort of looked like a demon. Gal isn't all that pretty. She's pretty, yes, but not Wonder Woman pretty. Then you get into how small she is. Hollywood can't change that. I never worry about acting.

Chris Evans was definitely not an unknown. Neither was Bale. Hemsworth came out of nowhere though haha.

This would have been my first choice, visually, but I'm okay with Gal. Though I also like the Lynn Collins suggestion above.
