The difference between Superman and Wonder Woman is the secret identity; in actuality, Diana doesn't have one. At least, not since Crisis(thank God for Perez). So a WW in high school or something with a secret I.d. Is stupid.
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
The idiocy of a Wonder Woman "Smallville"
Smallville (at least before it went batcrap crazy) worked because it was a teen drama disguised as a superhero show. Many of its villains were metaphors for high-school problems, and Clark's growth with his powers as well as his struggle with secrets and friends were a nice allegory on teenage relationships. As you said, the idea of a secret identity and its somewhat grounding in the real world made it relatable and entertaining.
Diana on the other hand...well WW in high school sounds terrible, and Diana on Themyscira sounds dull.
I'm not sure this is what they want to do. Just because they want to tell Diana early years doesn't mean it will be Smallville with Wonder Woman.
Anyhow, execution is where it all is.
For the adventures of amazon diana prince before she was wonder woman, should be easy to do and can easily be on a lower budget. In the golden age, Etta Candy was associated with a school sorority (beta lambda of holiday college) so maybe a cw amazon tv show will feature lots of lesbian sex. Smallville started out as a pitch for the young Bruce Wayne show which was not approved by Warners. It is easy to do other superheroes like Clark Kent and Diana Prince in the Smallville style. One Iron Man cartoon is also done in Smallville style with most of the characters in school. The pioneer of the superhero being in school is actually Spider Man done by Lee and Kirby who did romance comics before creating the Marvel superheroes. The golden age Flash Jay Garrick and Atom Al Pratt were also in school when they started. Jay got the gas fume accident from a school lab. A no tights, no flight Diana Prince show will probably be more similar to the bronze age Diana Rigg version of Wonder Woman.
With wonder woman tv shows, you can be sure only when the first episode actually comes out. Hopefully, we will see a new wonder woman tv show soon so people can finally forget about the old silly Wonder Woman tv show. I am not sure if any actress can beat the floppy breasts of the old Wonder Woman tv show.
@colonyofcells: that's like them using the excuse for a Superman movie where he doesnt fly, because he started out that way. And Iron Man Armored Adventures is a mediocre to poor show.
diana having a secret identity can work in the comics,if you make her work as a secret agent, and as wonder woman,a double live could be a good way to make great story arcs if you know how to do it,because it's a way to make her interact with more people, and show more struggles in her own life,a lot of good things can happen if the writter knows how to do it,but a TV series about a teenage diana will be hard to see,or maybe not,i don't know,i just think it's not the best way to go right now,a mature animated seeries based in her popular runs, like perez would be better,or maybe based uin arazzello run,so it can work as a good promo for the comic and maybe incrase the sales.

Agreed.
Ugh, why does it have to be the CW?? It's gonna be so much unnecessary drama and love triangles.
Because it's Warner. I agree that the formula of the CW stuff is a little over dramatic.

And shirtless men, a lot of shirtless men

Shirtless, SNARKY men who think they are being funny and cool but are really just glib. Oh and tons of smartphone use.
@gokuwarrior: outside of forced nostalgia, no doubt influenced by Johns, Diana has not had a secret i.d. for almost twenty years. Thank god.
