    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

So I read The Twelve Labors......

Wooooow was this bad, even for its time. I thought the Brknze Age was when comics started getting good?

First off, there's no way in Tartarus that I EVER wanna see Diana a Prince come back as the status quo(ya hear that Geoff?). Jesus Christ, alter ego antics are played out as is, but after reading the Prince-less Perez run, anything else is so mindbogglingly idiotic that I want to vomit. The episodic issues, the poor attempt at saga storytelling, the lame fights, Diana Prince, the awful and nonchalant attempts at Greek mythology (Mars instead of Ares, rhinotaur) and other dumb stuff. Not to mention the hilarious line "Suffering Sappho!" Who knew that Bronze Age WW predicted the Batwoman marriage debacle, lol.

Keep in mind, this is the type of stuff that Dan Didio, Geoff Johns, Alex Ross, and Mark Waid LOVE and want to return to.

I've only ready one of the issues in it. I enjoyed it but I like some of the cheesy Silver Age stuff. I do agree that Wonder Woman works better without a secret identity though.

It's Pre-Crisis. What do you expect from the 70s?

@bsaa: well "Suffering Sappho" was a GA thing too ... WW's early years were all about vague lesbian and bondage fetishes
