@Bruxae: I agree Olivia Wilde would be awful, but not because of how she looks, but rather, she´s not a good actress as far as I know. But I think for WW movie to be successful, you need two things of the actress that are equally important.
1) women have to be able to relate to her, and not find her intimidating, but rather beautiful on the inside and out. At least women have to perceive her that way to draw in a female crowd. An actress like Winslett would be great for that, but I think she´s wrong for the character.
2) Men must find her hot.
As much as I don´t like it, and I feel like a misogynist for saying it, it´s just true.
That´s why women and men like Michelle Pfiefer as Catwoman so much. She balanced those two elements so well, being sexy in a way women and men could appreciate it. She didn´t intimidate women her beauty, because their was a humanity and fierce femininity about it. Same goes with who they choose for WW. If you get that sense of such power in a really hot woman, men will come flocking, cause nothing gets a man going like the idea of getting a little roughed up by a hot woman. Trust me. Its the masochist in us.
Equally though, if she´s Pamella Anderson in barb wire, ridiculous sexy, she will turn off a female audience. They need to be able to relate to her, that´s why Lynda Carter in her own slightly dated outmoded way was actually really perfect WW for her time. She balanced that appeal to men, with a depth, warmth and femininity that women also appreciated.
