Okay, there are many families of heroes

You have Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Batwoman.....

Superman, Superboy, Supergirl, Krypto the Superdog

Aquaman, Aqualad, Aquagirl, maybe Aquawoman and now Aquadog

Captain Marvel, Mary Marvel, Marvel Jr.

But, you only have Wonderwoman and Wondergirl.....

At least until the New 52 made the Amazons more....amazonish

According to the comic, most sons of Amazons are traded to Hephaestus, but what if one got away.....

One of the panels shows that at least one mother didn't seem to want to give the child up....what if one was hidden away by an amazon?

Well I really wouldnt think theres a need for a Wonderboy but I do think it'd make a great story though

People are obsessed with calling Mera Aquawoman no matter how many times she tells them it's no her name

Robin is the Boy Wonder. That's enough.
#6 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@Dernman: This New 52 is all about trying to make the universe fresh. It sounds campy, but it was impossible to do this prior to the change in the Amazons.

It creates a reason for a connection between Wonder Woman and such a Wonder Boy, and with Cassie as she is, and Donna being in limbo with Wally West, or whatever, Wonder Woman has an opening for a sidekick.

She did try to recruit some of the amazon sons in issue seven, after all

nah I just don't like the name besides the way Wonder Woman is now I would be against a teen sidekick of either gender.

@Dernman: what about a surrogate son?

Ug They just finally made most of the heroes younger. I don't want her made to seem older by saddling her with a child.
#10 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@Dernman: Okay...maybe not that. But she has a much larger opening to have a new supporting cast, particularly a younger one. As a demigod, if any others like Cassie exist, or even Wonder Boys, she can relate to them. At the very least, it would be original and not a repeat of a past story

If so I'm a psychic cause I brought this up like a month ago. Then again I did predict Thors death and Storm joining the Avengers sooooo watch out Blindfold.

@krspaceT: Maybe, but wouldnt it be better to name the character something other than Wonder _____
#13 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: Wonder Kid, Wonder Man...no wait that's taken....well perhaps @Blood1991 6he psychic will be right again:

#14 Posted by ArturoCalaKayVee (12632 posts) - - Show Bio

I like the idea of Wonderboy. I don't think they can ever have WonderMan since that's Marvel's thing but Wonderboy would be pretty cool.

#15 Posted by RazzaTazz (8968 posts) - - Show Bio
@krspaceT: Like with Wolverine the could just name such a character something else
#16 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: oh so true

#17 Posted by Blood1991 (8082 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: @krspaceT:

In my post we came up with Kid Amazon and American Gladiater for the name. I hope I get this one right a male character being trained by DC's leading lady would be awesome.

Ha. I just re-read Blackest Night and she corrects somebody there for that exact misstep.
#19 Posted by X9 (767 posts) - - Show Bio

: I think it could work, the New 52 story itself allows it to happen. I just don't see it coming right now. Furthermore, the guy should choose a better name than Wonderboy. A name related to Greek mythology perhaps...

#20 Posted by Primmaster64 (21073 posts) - - Show Bio

I see why not. WW needs more males supporting characters in her book.

#21 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@X9: @Primmaster64: Nice to see you agree....

#22 Posted by wonderW (100 posts) - - Show Bio

they need to bring back  The Olympian, Achilles Warkiller he made a great wonder male  character well, Zeus did make him a male counter to Wonder Woman

#23 Edited by Jorgevy (5114 posts) - - Show Bio

one of the reasons that there might be no WonderBoy is because if he were to grow older, he couldnt be named WonderMan.

They dont want to get too risky with character's names maybe. Also, Amazons dont go that well with men....

BTW if I had to get a name for a greek based young male hero, probably something like TrojanBerseker or Bastion Of Troy

#24 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio
Doesn't look a year over....um I'm bad at this

@Jorgevy: Um.....comic characters don't grow up. Not to mention, lets look at Lennox, the son of Zeus you see in Wonder Woman's title. He's over 80 years old....

A demigod wouldn't age as fast....and the Amazons don't seem to age much either. And also....they never said the name had to be Wonderman?

#25 Posted by Jorgevy (5114 posts) - - Show Bio

@krspaceT: I know that..... That's why I said they might not want to get risky with character's names. Even if it's not Wonderman, anything with Wonder in it associated with a male is not good, specially after the whole Wonderman/Powergirl situation between DC and Marvel.

Also, because the entire WonderWoman line and the name (Wonder) isn't the best suitable line for a male hero. It would have to be slightly different, like it was mentioned above, with The Olympian or similar to that

#26 Posted by StarKiller809 (1213 posts) - - Show Bio

I though the same thing when I read the issue. I think it would be an easy way to do it, but I hope no writer does. I think introducing a Wonder Boy; though would be cool, it would be really hard to figure out why he has chosen to go to mans world. I think Wonder Woman is fine with Wonder Girl and hopefully Donna Troy. Wonder Boy would be pushing it to me because I think her current book has male characters that are doing a great job as supporting characters.

#27 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@StarKiller809: Well look at it this way, a Wonder Boy might make the change of the Amazon's actually important, and not just demonization

#28 Posted by StarKiller809 (1213 posts) - - Show Bio
@krspaceT: I disagree with that the changes were unimportant. Sure, it may be cruel what they did to the men, but I think it fits in more with the Greek mythology and that is the current direction of the series. It may be really different but it isn't unimportant like you say. It was a huge revelation that definitively affected the character and now people can stop saying that she is perfect along with her sisters...

Well, in the New 52, Cass (Wonder Girl) doesn't seem to have any connection to Wonder Woman and was called that by the media. But the Wonder Woman comics in the New 52 has a great cast of male supporting characters.

Plus, could a boy handle being the counterpart to a woman? I don't mean anything by it, it's just the readers flock to Batman and Superman like there's no tomorrow, and Wonder Woman, who is of the Big 3, is being outsold by other League members. Guys tend to go for more guy oriented books. And being Wonder Boy would heavily require someone to keep their ego in check.

If he was a mythological character and could be worked into the books, I think it could really work. But it's just Wonder Woman is such a woman's icon, could guys really grasp the idea? Like Wonder Woman is a "thing" we have in the boy-dominated comic book world. I'm all for sharing, but Wonder Woman is female thing. Remember, Stephanie Brown? The first female Robin? Look how well that turned out...She was able to claim the title of Batgirl, but the Robin mantle was a strictly no-girl zone after that.

@oraclefyre: Speedy 2, Mia Deerden. She did

I would love being the only male on an island full of hot amazons, I want to be that guy

#32 Posted by oraclefyre (936 posts) - - Show Bio

@krspaceT: Very true:) I forgot about her. Shame she's been written out of the New 52:\

#33 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@SupremeHyperion: Um, the hot amazons are all snakes now.....I'd prefer to be far away from a nest of vipers if possible.

Not to mention, if he's a Demigod he'd have never been on the island

@oraclefyre: They are still trying to expand on the new world, she is probably out there.....somewhere.

I don't know if "Wonder Boy" is coming, but it is interesting that Diana is missing a larger supporting cast. Never thought much about that.

#35 Posted by krspaceT (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

@PsychoKnights: Aside for Steve anyway she's normally a Y lacking comic

#36 Posted by Primmaster64 (21073 posts) - - Show Bio
@krspaceT: I' still with you on this concept. Would be cool to suggest it at DC.

@Primmaster64: I may try his wall and see if other fans agree with me, but yeah I was a little urked he didn't bother to reply. Hell a "thats a terrible idea" is better than nothing.

#43 Posted by Primmaster64 (21073 posts) - - Show Bio
@Blood1991: True. WW needs more male supporting characters.
#44 Posted by Blood1991 (8082 posts) - - Show Bio

@Primmaster64: I checked his wall and he hasn't put anything on his wall in nearly a month so I have sudden hope lol.

I think having 3 gods and a demi god in her title as supporting characters is pretty good, but for me a Wonder Boy is a step towards the family idea that Superman and Batman have that Diana lacks.

#45 Posted by Primmaster64 (21073 posts) - - Show Bio
@Blood1991: I always thought it was unfair for WW not to have a male counterpart.
#46 Posted by Blood1991 (8082 posts) - - Show Bio

@Primmaster64: Same and I can't speak for other dudes, but I would have no problem being trained to kick a$$ by a woman let alone Wonder Woman :p

#47 Posted by Primmaster64 (21073 posts) - - Show Bio
@Blood1991: But Wonder Boy sounds corny...what other name would you give him?
#48 Posted by Blood1991 (8082 posts) - - Show Bio

@Primmaster64: On the other Wonder Boy thread we came up with American Gladiator, Kid Amazon and Wonder Lad. Not a fan of the last one, but I like Kid Amazon out of what we came up with. Ofcourse revamping Olympian as her Wonder Boy could work too.

#49 Posted by Primmaster64 (21073 posts) - - Show Bio
@Blood1991: American Gladiator sounds good.
