i have many times seen the comic characters remark that diana is the most beautiful woman in the wrld etc... so what do u guys think? is she? and i m not talkin about the artist's rendition of her in the comics or who u personally find beautiful... i mean according to the books is she supposed to be the most beautiful in the dc earth?
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
is wonder woman really the most beautiful woman in dc
Cannonically, yes. In practice your mileage may vary. (I've always preferred Carol Ferris, but maybe it's the striperiffic costume ! XD)
@azza04: yea dat...but to me she doesn't look a teensy bit like aphrodite.... nt sayin she isn't beautiful but their builds r very different...
@RazzaTazz: yea that figures..amazons r supposed to be beautiful...nt sure about hippolyta but penthesilea was supposed to be so beautiful AChilles wept in regret after killing her in the Trojan war.
@The Devil Tiger: so its canon then.. good
thnks fr d replies everyone :)

@Daveyo520: I think in terms of the question though its who is the most beautiful inside the universe, not how we perceive them
That saved me from looking like a fool :D
Then yes, yes she is!
@The Stegman: Her hair is too stringy

@Daveyo520: @Hawkeye446: She is the only person in the DC universe blessed with beauty, though I always thought a good story would be that Aphrodite gets jealous of her beauty and wants to take it back, sort of like an ancient myth kind of story.
Why not write it then? Get DC interested :D
@RazzaTazz: There are also myths that are not those about her as well.
Hmm this has got me thinking. They had a different standard of beauty back then, so is she good looking to only ancient Greeks or does her appearance change to look beautiful to each ages state of beauty if she were to still be around?
@RazzaTazz: if its about aphrodite's jealousy then maybe u should read up "cupid and psyche " as well.... then.. maybe u already have
@RazzaTazz: i think the contest to see who athens is named after was between athena and poseidon..nt sure tho..could be wrong.... and i think aphrodite's jealousy is most profoundly presented in the story of "cupid and psyche"...or at least ..it is so, among the few greek stories of antiquity that i hv read..
@RazzaTazz: rn't u talkin about the "judgement of paris" ?? at the wedding of peleus and thetis..eris drops a golden apple with the inscription " for the fairest" at the proceeding.... and hera, athena and aphrodite all claim it..so zeus asks paris to be the judge... in return for judging in their favor hera promised him rule over all europe and asia, athena promised skill in battle and aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman in the world as his wife...
@RazzaTazz: Really, you haven't read the Odyssey? Go get them, both Iliad and Odyssey. Find a good translation and enjoy!
P.S. Perhaps, you'll find some points dull (I don't), but you'll see that in general they're amazing and interesting to read.
@RazzaTazz: lol... or we could both be right... there are a hundred different versions of the same myths... maybe we have both read different versions of the same story... i mean classical myths are worse than loeb and bendis... the romans tell it in one form and the hellenes in another...heck i m nt even sure if aphrodite is zeus aunt or daughter....
@Phaedrusgr: I have read them, but you are right some points are dull, part of that is because they were meant to be spoken and not read though, and there are mnemonics throughout to help the stories along
@RazzaTazz: so if u manage to sell that idea to dc i'll be sure to read it ;)
@evryone thanks fr ur opinion
@RazzaTazz:i am reading the new wonder woman issues ..but the thing is i have no idea how they showed Hera earlier... and i do agree that they should keep the depictions true to the myths... they will have an added depth to their character.... those ancient phillosophers and poets had some really wicked ideas..... i think they wud hv put neil gaiman to shame
I don't know about Wonder Woman but Nora is the DC Universe's most beautiful cryogenically frozen woman, Chemo is the DC Universe's most beautiful man-shaped pile of radioactive goo, and Mogo is the DC Universe's most beautiful sentient planet.
@RazzaTazz: Similarly, Ra's al Ghul is the most handsome regularly resurrected supervillain (also the beard.) And Sue Dibny is the most beautiful woman named Sue Dibny.
@RazzaTazz: I don't think they're dull, but I do understand that many find some points to be and I see you learned your lesson, knowing their original form and purpose (about the verbal part). Good job, man!
@RazzaTazz:Haha...well, I suppose I could call you woman but that doesn't fit well for a reason. Anyway, hadn't notice your gender, till it was too late, meaning I had already called you man...Well, I guess you have to forgive me. ;)))
