    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

She was originally supposed to have been blessed with the beauty of Aphrodite so probably. But like they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

All of the woman in comics are really equally attractive. They are all drawn as hot as they can be and really they are all equal. Most of them look exactly the same too maybe with just a different hair color.

@Daveyo520@Hawkeye446: She is the only person in the DC universe blessed with beauty, though I always thought a good story would be that Aphrodite gets jealous of her beauty and wants to take it back, sort of like an ancient myth kind of story.

@RazzaTazz: There are also myths that are not those about her as well.

Hmm this has got me thinking. They had a different standard of beauty back then, so is she good looking to only ancient Greeks or does her appearance change to look beautiful to each ages state of beauty if she were to still be around?

Yes good idea, or just the one where they have the contest to see who Athens is named after.

@RazzaTazz: i think the contest to see who athens is named after was between athena and poseidon..nt sure tho..could be wrong.... and i think aphrodite's jealousy is most profoundly presented in the story of "cupid and psyche"...or at least ..it is so, among the few greek stories of antiquity that i hv read..

@cloudzackvincent: I am pretty sure the Athens naming was between Hera, Aphrodite and Athena.  Hera offered the city a matriarchal presence, Aphrodite offered it beauty, and Athena offered it tactical success in battle and wisdom

P.S. Perhaps, you'll find some points dull (I don't), but you'll see that in general they're amazing and interesting to read.

@RazzaTazz: lol... or we could both be right... there are a hundred different versions of the same myths... maybe we have both read different versions of the same story... i mean classical myths are worse than loeb and bendis... the romans tell it in one form and the hellenes in another...heck i m nt even sure if aphrodite is zeus aunt or daughter....

@Phaedrusgr: I have read them, but you are right some points are dull, part of that is because they were meant to be spoken and not read though, and there are mnemonics throughout to help the stories along

@cloudzackvincent: Hera showed up occasionally in volume 2, but she was portrayed as mostly uninterested in the godesses' plans for the Amazons.  During Challenge of the Gods she shows up as angry at Diana because Zeus was trying to seduce her.
