i have many times seen the comic characters remark that diana is the most beautiful woman in the wrld etc... so what do u guys think? is she? and i m not talkin about the artist's rendition of her in the comics or who u personally find beautiful... i mean according to the books is she supposed to be the most beautiful in the dc earth?

She was originally supposed to have been blessed with the beauty of Aphrodite so probably. But like they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

@cloudzackvincent: I think it is reasonable considering where she came from

Cannonically, yes. In practice your mileage may vary. (I've always preferred Carol Ferris, but maybe it's the striperiffic costume ! XD)

@azza04: yea dat...but to me she doesn't look a teensy bit like aphrodite.... nt sayin she isn't beautiful but their builds r very different...

@RazzaTazz: yea that figures..amazons r supposed to be beautiful...nt sure about hippolyta but penthesilea was supposed to be so beautiful AChilles wept in regret after killing her in the Trojan war.

@The Devil Tiger: so its canon then.. good

thnks fr d replies everyone :)

All of the woman in comics are really equally attractive. They are all drawn as hot as they can be and really they are all equal. Most of them look exactly the same too maybe with just a different hair color.

@Daveyo520: I think in terms of the question though its who is the most beautiful inside the universe, not how we perceive them

@RazzaTazz: Maybe I should have read that. >.>

Then I guess she would be.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, personally i think Zatanna is.

That saved me from looking like a fool :D

Then yes, yes she is!

@Daveyo520@Hawkeye446: She is the only person in the DC universe blessed with beauty, though I always thought a good story would be that Aphrodite gets jealous of her beauty and wants to take it back, sort of like an ancient myth kind of story.

@The Stegman: Her hair is too stringy

Why not write it then? Get DC interested :D

@RazzaTazz: There are also myths that are not those about her as well.

Hmm this has got me thinking. They had a different standard of beauty back then, so is she good looking to only ancient Greeks or does her appearance change to look beautiful to each ages state of beauty if she were to still be around?

i'm attracted to her personality

@RazzaTazz: if its about aphrodite's jealousy then maybe u should read up "cupid and psyche " as well.... then.. maybe u already have

@The Stegman: Fair enough

Yes good idea, or just the one where they have the contest to see who Athens is named after.

is there a difference between classical and modern beauty though?  I don't think so

#22 Posted by cloudzackvincent (1028 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: i think the contest to see who athens is named after was between athena and poseidon..nt sure tho..could be wrong.... and i think aphrodite's jealousy is most profoundly presented in the story of "cupid and psyche"...or at least ..it is so, among the few greek stories of antiquity that i hv read..

#23 Posted by RazzaTazz (9679 posts) - - Show Bio
@cloudzackvincent: I am pretty sure the Athens naming was between Hera, Aphrodite and Athena.  Hera offered the city a matriarchal presence, Aphrodite offered it beauty, and Athena offered it tactical success in battle and wisdom

@RazzaTazz: rn't u talkin about the "judgement of paris" ?? at the wedding of peleus and thetis..eris drops a golden apple with the inscription " for the fairest" at the proceeding.... and hera, athena and aphrodite all claim it..so zeus asks paris to be the judge... in return for judging in their favor hera promised him rule over all europe and asia, athena promised skill in battle and aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman in the world as his wife...

@RazzaTazz: Really, you haven't read the Odyssey? Go get them, both Iliad and Odyssey. Find a good translation and enjoy!

P.S. Perhaps, you'll find some points dull (I don't), but you'll see that in general they're amazing and interesting to read.

@Mega_spidey01: Her beauty is not given by the gods though, the idea here is who is actually the most beautiful inside the comics, not the real world people

#29 Posted by cloudzackvincent (1028 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: lol... or we could both be right... there are a hundred different versions of the same myths... maybe we have both read different versions of the same story... i mean classical myths are worse than loeb and bendis... the romans tell it in one form and the hellenes in another...heck i m nt even sure if aphrodite is zeus aunt or daughter....

#30 Posted by RazzaTazz (9679 posts) - - Show Bio
@cloudzackvincent: Ah yes thats true because they all assimilated other myths as well from other religions that they got while conquering areas.

@Phaedrusgr: I have read them, but you are right some points are dull, part of that is because they were meant to be spoken and not read though, and there are mnemonics throughout to help the stories along

@RazzaTazz: so if u manage to sell that idea to dc i'll be sure to read it ;)

@evryone thanks fr ur opinion

#32 Posted by RazzaTazz (9679 posts) - - Show Bio
@cloudzackvincent: It would be interesting.  I think if they go for mythologically based stories they should keep truer to the actual depiction of the deities, though I do like how they are showing Hera now.

@RazzaTazz:i am reading the new wonder woman issues ..but the thing is i have no idea how they showed Hera earlier... and i do agree that they should keep the depictions true to the myths... they will have an added depth to their character.... those ancient phillosophers and poets had some really wicked ideas..... i think they wud hv put neil gaiman to shame

#34 Posted by RazzaTazz (9679 posts) - - Show Bio
@cloudzackvincent: Hera showed up occasionally in volume 2, but she was portrayed as mostly uninterested in the godesses' plans for the Amazons.  During Challenge of the Gods she shows up as angry at Diana because Zeus was trying to seduce her.

I don't know about Wonder Woman but Nora is the DC Universe's most beautiful cryogenically frozen woman, Chemo is the DC Universe's most beautiful man-shaped pile of radioactive goo, and Mogo is the DC Universe's most beautiful sentient planet.

@cosmo111687: Those are all good points, also Vandal Savage is the most handsome supervillain that cant die (its the beard)

#37 Posted by cosmo111687 (1489 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: Similarly, Ra's al Ghul is the most handsome regularly resurrected supervillain (also the beard.) And Sue Dibny is the most beautiful woman named Sue Dibny.

#38 Posted by Phaedrusgr (1672 posts) - - Show Bio

@RazzaTazz: I don't think they're dull, but I do understand that many find some points to be and I see you learned your lesson, knowing their original form and purpose (about the verbal part). Good job, man!

#39 Posted by RazzaTazz (9679 posts) - - Show Bio
@cosmo111687: I guess so, but Salu Digby comes pretty close to being named Sue Dibny

@RazzaTazz:Haha...well, I suppose I could call you woman but that doesn't fit well for a reason. Anyway, hadn't notice your gender, till it was too late, meaning I had already called you man...Well, I guess you have to forgive me. ;)))

I guess if "Men's Health" existed in the DC Universe the hottest woman of all time award would go to Diana instead of Jennifer Aniston.

.

#49 Posted by Evil Incarnate (3934 posts) - - Show Bio

Technically yeah Diana is the the shit. I would give Starfire second for sure. Thing about Diana is not only is she currently beautiful, but she'll stay that way thanks to immortality.
