Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
If Sex sells...
Why is this an issue?
More Sex with Wonder Woman ? Yes please, and also her kicking a$$ ! She's sex on a stick !
She outsold Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, Superman(Action Comics) and a whole load of other DC titles last month.
Maybe it's them that need the sex appeal.
(claps)
Well, they need to at least bring this back by modernizing the material from the Marston run. I'd like to see sex like themes, if the story involves Dr. Psycho, but I don't really want to see it that much between her and the likes of Superman, Steve Trevor, Batman, etc, the scenarios that DC seems currently bent towards materializing.
They're having the stupidest argument ever on cbr about Circe being "oversexualized" in S/WW 16. They didn't see Magog's sexy outfit, or his gun conveniently placed over his junk? Those people are dumb as dishwater over there.
If Circe is too sexy for them, they'd go apes#*t if Diana were any sexier.
This is the same OP who asked if wonder woman is boring in a wonder woman forum a month ago. Feed him, lol. If this premise was anything other than the ridiculous bait it is, all comics with all characters would be porn.
@errantknight: Good to see I have a fan
they got starfire and a number of bimbos that can be scantily dressed have unneeded sex scenes , diana is a warrior and there is not many female characters that do not fall back on male counterparts nor get emotional and act fragile . i rather have a strong female lead in a comic than a bimbo parading around with virtually nothing on. to sappease both sides they can always go the witchblade route : the cover can be the eye candy and barely show any skin in the comic
Should Wonder Woman, the most iconic female comic book character, have more sex scenes in her comics?

Yes, but mostly in the sense that the Marston themes should be brought back; best example, Dr. Psycho featuring Wonder Woman; Dr. Psycho often uses her friends and nearby civilians to constantly get Wonder Woman tied up in sexualized poses; thinking sex toy weapon devices too, but I think I'm getting to far on the edge to say anymore. The edges would be Dr. Psycho requiring sex to get a victim released; Marston's material can definitely be brought back and modernized.
They should make it not sexier, but add a tad bit more romance. I'd love to see Wonder Woman begin a thing with Batman (just as they had in JL/JLU, my favorite all-time DC show). That was so real. I'm tired of the Superman/Wonder Woman pairing. It seems artificial and shallow. An Amazing amazon warrior, cut off from men for her whole life- and finds Bruce Wayne, the ideal mortal man who tries so hard to do only good. Now THAT'S a good love story.

That idea is just as artificial and shallow; other than being a regular man who is extraordinary athletic, a minus, plus rich, how is it any different from being with Superman? The minus for Superman is his super abilities, while the minus for Batman is being just human, albeit it skilled and athletic. Besides Dr. Psycho, you'd have a point if you presented someone like say Ferdinand; but, we can create someone who is physically in Dr. Psycho's predicament and probably normal height, but who is not a villain, just insecure about himself because of his physical issues.
Screw it (pardon the pun) ... she's supposed to be sexy and liberated from "traditional female interpretation" ... I say let her take her pleasures where she wants and not be tied down with the boy scout or the bat or Steve. People make such a thing out of her relationship status, why does it matter so much? If she never left the Island she'd be celibate or with a woman ... what difference does it make if she's vestal or voracious in "man's world"?
Female sexuality is a pandora box that mustn't be open yet, besides Wonder Woman's got 99 problems that should take precedence, I feel like they should probably delineate her personality before she's been passed around to every man in the dcu

Basically, this. Focus on other aspects on Diana's character.
I don't think Diana should be sexy seductive or slutty such as Catwoman or Black Cat, but she can use her beauty to her advantage. I like the self respective stuff Diana has going on but if she's naked in public because "man's world confuses her" as it isn't the same customs as hers, it makes sense to me.
I just don't want Diana taking her shirt off and screwing dudes because YOLO
i dont see the problem with a more sexualized wonder women when there are many others who are okay with other characters getting the treatment,
I don't think it should be a problem for her to go around and experience sex on her own terms. But that shouldn't be the only thing she's doing. It's a bit of a slippery slope though. I feel if a writer got the okay to do that it will slip into a "who is she going to seduce next" rather than a character story.
That's my issue with Morrisons new book right now. I knew there was going to be sex based on his Marston statements, and I was fine with that. But with the previews released it appears to be 90% sex and 10% story. Hopefully that was just selective error on the leakers' part and Morrison actually has a decent story behind.
But as it stands no one has been find a middle ground in terms of Wonder Woman. She's either being passed between Batman and Superman with maybe a Steve thrown in like a Vegas girl or she has a titanium chastity belt.
They keep clam jamming her in the comics. They won't even let her be shown being naughty in SM/WW
Both these scenes cut

Still the best post
i dont think it is a big deal to her and i dont think it should be played as a big deal in her comics. shes a grown woman so im sure she's had sex at some point in her life im sure she has no hangups about it and i dont like the idea that shes a virgin but also im not really a fan of the kinky stuff from the original comics but honestly it didnt bother me too much (given that it wasnt super detailed being as it was the 1940's)
I ran into these quotes the other day, seemed relevant to the thread -
Mike Deodato: Yeah. I heard a friend of mine was doing something for DC. Somebody from the same agent that was representing me was doing something for a big company, and I was not. So I was jealous! I said, "Hey, he's doing it. I want to do something for them too!" Then they say, "Well, there is this Wonder Woman comic. They need an artist, but it doesn't sell well. Nobody wants to do that." I said, "I want to! I want to!"
Mike Deodato: I got to do Wonder Woman. In three months, the sales doubled and tripled or something like that. Because they gave me freedom to do whatever I want. It was not said, but I kept doing things and I kept making her more ... um ... hot? Wearing thongs. I talked to Bill Loebs at a convention, and he said his friends call his run on Wonder Woman with me "porn Wonder Woman." (laughter) OK. Thanks for letting me know. But back then it worked. Every time the bikini was smaller, the sales get higher.
This topic is full of lulz. I'm all for a curvaceous, sultry, beautiful, and complimentingly bodacious and feminine WW physique, but that shouldn't be a selling point of her character at least.
Shes a woman, a sexually designed woman at that, she will eventually be some form of wish fufillment sex as fantasy with many of the Male heroes that are self insert vehicles for the many fans that read their comics to project themselves as.
No. Even though I found her sexy when I was a teen seeing her in comic books with The Justice League and even though I still find her sexy now (although I find Power Girl sexier) I think she has had enough sex scenes. Sometimes making a female hot comic book character have too much sex is degrading because she is more than a stick on boobs.
As long as the storyline is good and is not a storyline that makes her out to be useless eye candy. For example, if there was a story where she and Superman team up and defeat a near unstoppable villain and then have sexual intercourse at the end...that is fine. However, if there is a storyline where she decides to work as a stripper and prostitute to get money and a lot of the pages just have vacuous sexual activity scenes with no meaningful storyline and just stuff that makes her out to be a brainless sex object then that is bad.
