Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

Well in an old JLA issue in a hypothetical situation where she and Batman were in love, Batman was killed by Joker and WW was so devastated that she grabbed Joker and wiped his face against the wall HARD and killed him. Pretty interesting I think ; )

Yea, she worked past it through commune with the god Pan and made a fool of him, pissed him off by laughing hysterically at him, then nearly blew him up. And she destroyed a Lex/Brainiac hybrid in Justice League.

with lex you can argue that if he has pre time he can come up with something,but not in a rabndom fight,it's just a human,him and joker can't hurt wonder woman level characters.

that story is from a run full of bad writtin,joker can't hurt her,and a bomb and acid won't even hurt her considering the kind of damage she is able to take consistently.

@gokuwarrior: Honestly I don't know, I know from a previous argument on CV that WML made it so that Hippolyta had Diana enchanted so she was effectively only on par with her Amazon sisters as long as she was on Themyscira so she wouldn't grow up feeling physically superior to them (Byrne later added that thing with Artemis also being enchanted to sap Diana's strength when she was near). I'll have to read the Contest and the stories after it at some point.

if she was very depowered then it's good,because trolls like to use scans from that arc(fight with poison ivy)to say she is weak.

This is funny because we all agree that JL Wonder Woman is impulsive, aggressive and stupid, but when she touched that skull, turned to her even worse side, she held back? I didn't read every issue of the trinity war or forever evil, so I may be wrong to think that the skull brings the opposite side of the one who touches it. But if I am right, your explanation cannot stand. And even if she held back, she can still take Katana down instantly like catching a butterfly without harming it. It's just that WW did not show powerful feats that fans may expect to see in JL.
I think that with decades of history, the character Diana pretty much has a life of her own. She IS powerful and wise, but writers tend to depower her so that they can think of some easy plots to fill the pages. That is so irresponsible. If they want her to fight street levels occasionally, or get beaten by metas to a ridiculous degree, fine, but come up with some explanations first. I don't object to the ideas of exploring the possible outcomes if WW loses her power, or if she met the Joker first instead of Steve, or if Kal-El's ship crushed on paradise island and compete for Wonder Woman/Man title with Diana (hey I'd love to read this one) , or whatever, but seriously, in how many times is Diana really THE Wonder Woman? Shouldn't the books be establishing her character, before they try a lot of new experiments? When talking about Superman and Batman, people know their characters, their backgrounds and ideals, but when talking about Wonder Woman, there are so many conflicts and contradictions in her portraits that people wonder if she really has a stable personality. Wonder Woman is an extremely complicated character in the comic world, and she should not be written by writers don't accept her as who she is but bend her and use her as a plot device.

but giganta has huge level of super strength and durability,cheetah has powers that come from a god,sinestro is a big powerhouse as well,it makes sense for them to survive an assault from WW,but joker and deathstroke can't even harm her with their attacks unless they have a plot armor in their favor.
@hastalavista: that is because many writters are lazy,many times they water down powerhouses for no reason just for the sake of one plot,it happens to many other powerhouses not only WW,but i'm glad to say that 75% of the time she has been portrayed as a powerhouse,most of her feats are in that category.
she has a well developed personality and goals in most of her comics,perez run,ruka run,simone run,marston run,but nowdays things have changed,the reboot hasn't done anything for her yet,i hope at some point things will change and she will be treated properly again.
