Do you feel that people look at her a certain way because they think she is a threat to male characters? I am not claiming anything but I feel there is some type of conspiracy. Are there actually people dislike her because she emasculates men?
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8804 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
Does Wonder Woman intimidate men?
You mean real people in the world, not people in comics? Who knows? If it is the case I doubt they'd admit it to anyone but themselves.

I don't think I could take her too seriously in that getup she wears... Then again I wouldn't be able to take Batman serious without hysterically laughing my butt off.
Now I could take someone like Hawkeye, Black Widow, Red Hood and Grayson seriously.
naw it because she a feminist icon alot people are annoyed by feminist hell the word feminist was time most annoying word of 2014
@darknightspideyfanboy: it's only irritating because irritating children who don't understand the concept of feminism rant about it ad nauseum ... equality is a simple concept that doesn't involve women being BETTER than men.
@cloakx14: I see what you did there XD

even when he ran around like this
@w0nd: Not so much. I'm thinking more recent comics and his Ultimate counterpart.
I think she does, readers and writers alike... hence why we have that craptacular scan of Superman backhanding her and when people seem to automatically back the male character on battleforums.
@outside_85: @csg_cl: I'm glad I am not the only one to notice some users heavily bias against her.
That's only partially true ... Marston was heavily influenced by the women in his life and used WW as a platform to push the proto-feminist agenda along with his psycho-sexual theories of loving submission.
@outside_85: @csg_cl: I'm glad I am not the only one to notice some users heavily bias against her.
Is the bias you're seeing in the battle forums or all across the site?

Battleforums mostly... though we do have one nitwit on the WW boards thats continues to bash her down whenever the subject of Kryptonians come up.
@outside_85: That's what I figured. The battle forums are the armpit of the site.
@longbowhunter: Think we all know that battleforums aren't the peak of reasonable debate climates under any circumstances and sadly it's also created the rather annoying 'feat'-mentality that makes or breaks comic runs.
@outside_85: Ughhh...I know what you mean. Makes me wonder if some users actually buy and read the comic, or if they just frantically flip through them at the shop looking for the action parts. "Too many words, not enough feats!"
@longbowhunter: our resident troll is one such "feat monkey", but sadly not the only one on here ... Never have understood that mentality!
Maybe some male readers have problems, not me. I'd love nothing more than for her to bash down some top tier male characters, but the problem Is that in the New 52 she has shown nothing to indicate she could taken down Superman or equivalent, which is fuel to the fire of those who choose to bash her.
I know that comics are not just about feats, but when was the last time she performed some relatable top tier feat and I don't mean bashing one of her fellow gods. She has super powers, lets see her use them in a way that is relatable to people. For example, in Superman unchained Issue 8, he flies Wraith through the moon and out the other side, destroys missiles and chucks an oil tanker at Wraith, so by this you have some measurement for his power. I want to see Wonder Woman performing similar feats that I can relate to.

Quoted For The Truth
As for the Question. I think she should cause as much fear as Superman does. As in not much fear as it is awe.
When Superman flies down to take down thugs, citizens and thugs alike as stuck frozen in awe thinking -It's the Big Man!- and the like.

Yeah, absolutely. One of the few relatable feats I saw in recent times was in an Injustice Gods Comic where she flew down and went through a tank, head first and destroyed it. It was cool, it gave a good indication of how strong and bad ass she can be!

About time someone called a spade a spade, thank you for that Bezza. If stories were all that really mattered like some black-and-white-minded individuals suggest, they wouldn't be in this part of comicvine in the first place, unless dc meets their standards of good comic book literature, in which case they are philistines and we should ignore them. They fight in the front lines against Powerwoman though so they must care a little.
@bezza: well she did manage to fight 2 Kryptonians at once and fought Doomed several times without injury so I'm not sure your statement of showing nothing to prove she can stand up to them is in any way accurate. She's also the go-to powerhouse BM brings in as his ringer against Wraith and she clearly defeated Mongol in the PZ and showed multiple times that she was more powerful than Orion, who gave SM a good tussle. Sure Azzarello and Chiang kept her solo title minimalist, but that doesn't mean she's incapable of such things. It IS about the stories, feats, at least meaningful ones, should support the story ... Not the other way around.
I enjoy action as much as anyone else, but I get pretty bored when a comic gets one dimensional and is nothing but a series of feats. A good story will build to an epic feat rather than distract the reader with meaningless action sequences. Stories like Doomed are a huge fail IMO because every other panel is some feat that wasn't connected to the story in a solid way. Injustice Diana is painfully one dimensional, she was little more than SM's enforcer.
Contrary to some opinions, this topic is anything but black and white ... With every feat comes 100 interpretations of said feat. WW spent 36 issues pounding on god-level enemies, yet posters here freak out when she doesn't win every fight. SM would have been annihilated by Apolo if he hadn't been accidentally sundipped, yet when Diana loses to him people point to that as a sign of her being weak??
@csg_cl: I have to deal with a Beta Ray Bill fanboy that is still bitter about the fact he lost against Wonder Woman in her first battle of the week lol (now he baiting her in threads). I don't understand why is it so hard for people to accept her as a strong character. Then we have trolls that want to bring up the fact that she can't destroy planets in every thread. Wonder Woman has the most patient fans ever in order to put up with this.
@blue1_marvel: I don't know much about DBZ but it's unfair that it got banned. Look at how Naruto fans been acting lately but they're not banned,
@blue1_marvel: out of curiosity, why engage at all if you don't care about WW and don't know who Beta Ray Bill is? What benefit do you get from picking a side in a debate you know nothing about? Why care?
@blue1_marvel: you didn't say it directly ... But it's how I took your commentary around her since you seemed upset that people on CV showed some level of respect.
Of course. She's taller than the average male and is just as strong if not stronger than most of the men she meets.
If I were a guy and I met her I'd feel intimidated because most of the girls I know are probably shorter than me and need my/a man's help in there time of need.
P.S - Now I know that's a generalization and stereotypical, but honestly, it's true to some?
@saint_sophie: I'd say it's true in terms of societal expectation to the average 40+ year old white straight male.
