She is Greek, but she seems to always be portrayed with an American accent.
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
Does Wonder Woman have an accent?
well if it makes you feel better generally every single American created science fiction character either has some sort of American accent, or a brtish accent@cattlebattle said:
@Captain13: She doesn't come from Greece though, she comes from ThemyscaraThat doesn't explain the depiction of her having an American accent though...
i think diana can have an accent if you want her to have one. idk if she would have a hot accent like Rogue though.
It actually makes sense that she has an American accent, considering what her costume looks like. If her outfit is about wearing the colors of her host nation, what's to say that she wouldn't speak as they speak as well? Not sure if the costume meaning has been reconned but there is an explanation if you need one.
When I read WW comics I always do so with the idea of her having an accent. I wish her animated portrayals would include an accent.
I guess she would have learned English from the first people she met, Americans like Steve Trevor. As time goes on she might either adopt a standard American accent or maybe a Mid-Atlantic accent.
Well it's not like she has spent most of her life in the US of A, she was raised in Themsicyra and I would think she should have an accent to vary up the voices of the Justice League. That being said I do think Diana has had some great voice actors in both Justice League and Young Justice, so I really don't especially mind the American accent.

@RazzaTazz:can I say i would love see Wonder Woman have an Brooklyn accent...but thats just me...
That would make her sooooo much more better, lol.
@Captain13 & htb106 & Shutdown & Others:
What you guys fail to realize is that Wonder Woman has studied & MASTERED ALL languages while growing up on PARADISE ISLAND (not "Themyscira"). Thus...she didn't need to grow up in the USA to put on any accent she wants!!
But her default accent & speech pattern is very fluid and is only SLIGHT. And it sounds like a MIX of things. Becuz remember...she knows EVERY language.
Here is both an excerpt from my WW dossier, and a link to my Review of past WW productions where I critique the voice:
Voice----------------------Ranges from Mezzo-Soprano, to Alto/Contralto ...a very nurturing, sultry, pleasing tone ...hers is full of loving emotion; the opposite of monotone, nasty, and scary-like.
Speech patterns-------The key word here is 'fluid' ...Slight unidentifiable accent (which decreases with time in MW), sounds like an amalgam of Middle Eastern, Greek, Asian & Polynesian dialects ...Varied tempo, from quick to slow ...Fluid pronunciations, much like native Hawaiian speakers ...Uses proper English (her first years in MW), but creatively & expressively, then uses some slang (later on).

@justthatkid: I assume Gal Gadot will use her natural accent.
She was created by an American, for an American comic company, and even dawns a costume that draws from the American flag..
I think you get the picture.... I'm not so sure unless someone could show me current WW speaking with an accent, cause as far as I'm concerned, she speaks with an American accent English wise. Other languages, I'm not so sure.
I hear Susan Eisenberg's voice in my head but I'm open to a Mediterranean tinge if not English (Hollywood having a tradition of ancient cultures having English accents).

In the greek myths Themiscyra was found on the Terme River in Turkey.
So she would likely be Turkish.
Not necessarily. Much of Turkey was held by the Greeks in the ancient world, and the rest was held by Persians (think Xerxes or Darius the Great). Homer (the ultimate Greek) lived in a modern day Turkey (probably one of the Ionian Islands), and Athens controlled that region off and on at its peak. The Amazons could be Greek, Persian, or some other (possibly unique) ethnicity, but they're highly unlikely to be Turkish, since the Turks didn't even start migrating into Anatolia until the 11th century.
Well, when Rucka 2.0 started, she had trouble with English, so, she at least started with an accent; actually, just before Barbara Ann was forced to revert back to Cheetah by Veronica, she still had a bit of trouble with English; so, my guess is that she has some degree of an accent; and, she may have an accent mixed with a British accent, as she may still be based in London.

This guy gets it.
In ancient times there was no Turkey. It was Eastern Roman Empire. Byzantium.
