I recently came from a place that hated this current run calling it an abomination and believing it should be cancelled. It was really bad, even the mods hated the run. Is this how people feel here?
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
Do people here like Azz's current run on WW?
One of my favorite characters and I'm with them. I hate it. I could have gotten on board if it was't for the decision to change her into a demi god. Perez's origin was unique and creative and they made her another Hercules or Perseus. Aside from that it's meh. Nothing really interesting is going on or has happened.
I've read a lot of WW comics in the past and respect her long history. That being said I also understand this is a reboot of her character and have been enjoying it. My only complaint is the book has such a large cast that Diana gets a bit lost at times. Same can be said for the current Flash book.
@Izaiah Yeah Tony Akins is not as good as Chaing, but I think the way Hera is portrayed is consistent with the mythology
@Katie24 I have been enjoying it alot. It made me like WW (though I only started reading after the N52, so it is only a comparison between her and other media, not the comics). I love strife and the other characters and the post-modern take on mythology is interesting. Tony Akins art though is disapointing

Ah, CBR. Half of the users like to b~tch. Nothing to worry about.
Old WW fans are just mad because of good writing.
LOL. that is true though.
Love or hate the origin change the fact is that the book is really well written and drawn. Wonder Woman is now a constant top seller and one of the best rated comics not only of DC but also in general.
Wonder Woman is one of the characters that should be happy about the reboot

@Katie24 Comic Book Resource, the entire forum is dominated by people who say it sucks. Everyday someone is besting a new thread on why it should be cancelled and how people who liked it were not true WW fans and were just Azzhats
To be fair, I think that the people who are outraged are just more motivated to start threads there than the people who enjoy the run. Every one of those negative threads you note have CBR forum posters popping up and disputing the criticisms. There are plenty of fans of this run on those boards.

No way! I'm a Wonder Woman fan & I think it's really good!
Though I don't agree with all the changes (i.e. the Amazons) but I'm not letting that get to me. It's a reboot so people have to understand there will be some changes. I hate changes but I'm just along for the ride (and it's been a good ride).
I'm just enjoying it; it's a good & interesting story.
I have been a fan of the character since i found out she was based in greek myth back when i was 6.picked her up at the end of the original run ,started with perez and loved how he kept it greek.its back to greek myth again and i love it.now she is really like those heros of myth.the daughter of the most powerful god and an immmortal.makes her more than "just" a demi-god.its interesting, which is good.and its got people talking.she is the best selling female in comics again one of dc comics best sellers.i find that most people dont like the attitude change.she is darker now.maybe it was needed.
I like it, but I see some of the problems and understand the criticism. A lot of people didn't like the change they did to the Amazons, and many feel that Azz writers Diana like she's stupid.
I hate it with a fiery passion. It's NOT Wonder Woman. It's a cheap imitation designed for people who like the name but not the character.
I really enjoy it. It is making a lot of people really mad about the huge changes to the character. I personally think that these changes are huge but they making the character stronger and even better. There have been few runs like this that have been enjoyable issue to issue.
I think that if you are set on the character and the amazons being perfect, this isn't for you. If you want to see Wonder Woman much more imperfect and more human, this is something that you will want to check out,
^And that proves my point. Wonder Woman nor the Amazons were ever perfect. That's a fallacy made by people that didn't read the book before Azzarello. There was always conflict and drama and Wonder Woman herself was ALWAYS human. If anything she acts cold and inhuman in this current ersatz interpretation.
If you like pages and pages of gods standing around talking and a protagonist that's cold and not very bright, then this is the book for you. The latest issue had NO ACTION, at all, whatsoever. Wonder Woman spent it getting her hair done and make-up applied and that's symptomatic of this entire slow moving run.
@SCORPIO_CASSADINE: I don't think at is new Wonder Woman is cold, stupid or inhuman. Wonder Woman is currently alot younger and inexperienced that the old Wonder Woman was. On top of that, she is very new to the world out side of Paradise Island. If she comes of as cold, it's probably because she feels like a fish out of water. I think that Azzarello's plan for Wonder Woman is to have her evolve and develop as a character into the old Wonder Woman in the Wonder Woman series. The readers just need to be patient and enjoy the awesome stories till then.

This story takes place five years after the events depicted in Justice League's first issues. She's been a hero for quite some time and she's not really dealing with the general public in Azz's run. Zola is the only human she's talked to in 9 issues so she's hardly been a fish out of water. We're told she's having fun at the rock concert but you'd never know it by the icy look on her face. In #1 she rudely snatched Zola thirty feet and let her land on the ground. The real Wonder Woman would have caught her.
She's told point blank the gods are untrustworthy yet she blindly trusts Lennox and follows his plan. She grew up on the island and had no idea how Amazons procreate. She owns a lasso of truth and had no clue the story she was told of her birth was a lie. She acts without thinking to rescue her "brothers" and doesn't even ask if they want to be rescued and stood there with egg on her face when they sided with their "father". Then she stupidly makes the same mistake in the next issue regarding the souls in Hades' realm. She's pledged to protect Zola but she's dragged off to hell while Diana is busy patting herself on the back. These are lapses in judgement pre-flashpoint Diana wouldn't have made while green as grass on her first day off Themyscira.
I like what they have done with Wonder Woman so far but there is no reason they could have not done something similar before the relaunch/reboot. I like the focus on the mystical side of her heritage but I hope they do not make the gods look too weak if she is able to defeat them easily when it eventually comes down to it, and you know it will.
@SCORPIO_CASSADINE: I thought the Wonder Woman title took place 5 years before Justice League. Anyway, I like the new Wonder Woman. The old one had zero personality, you could never get a feel for who she was as an individual. Wonder Woman is a warrior from an ancient culture she has killed and been in brutal battles, and it never made sense to me that she would be so bright and cheery all the time with that background. I think people who are so negative about this new Wonder Woman are just knit-picking and would hate it know matter what just because its new and a little different.

Nah bruh, JMS' take "was new and a little different" and I loved it. There was bloodshed every issue and you felt like Diana and her sisters were truly in danger. It was action packed.
Azz's take is people standing around talking and there was NO reason for him to f___ around with Diana's origin, powers and backstory. He's taken what was created to be inspirational and set it on fire and pee'd on it.
