Earlier today DC announced that Cliff Chiang will be taking on co-writing duties on the WONDER WOMAN series starting with issue #8. The book will see the release of its sixth issue this Wednesday which will be drawn by Tony Akins. In it we will see the return of Poseidon and the introduction of Hades to the book -- and both characters have their own vision for "the world that Zeus left behind."

Wait, is Chiang no longer going to be on art duties? I wasn't overly fond of Akins (it was good, not stunning) and Chiang's art PERFECTLY fit this book.

@The Dark Huntress: No, I think Akins was only a temporary replacement for these 2 issues. Chiang is back with issue #7.

Yup, you're right. Just saw the solicits for issue 9 and it's Chiang. Crisis averted!

This isn't exactly new news, but that preview I've never seem. I really like it because I was kinda getting bored last issue with all the talking, but I think that this issue is going to be awesome. Two more days.

I'm loving this series of Wonder Woman!

The best thing about this New 52 is DC are making more of their characters cool, not just Batman and Green Lantern.

Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Superman (in Action Comics at least) are becomming cool again -- it's been awhile!

@The Dark Huntress: lol. I think Cliff Chiang is incredible. I'm ok with Akins, but I just can't wait until we're back to the original creative team. This is a great comic.

I really, really, REALLY hope that this isn't an attempt to ease Chiang into becoming the main writer...With Azz doing a Before Watchmen series its highly possible that he'll be moving off the book to focus on that. DC hasn't been the least bit gun shy about making creative changes on their DCnU titles.

@xkoenig: I completely agree. Akins just didn't wow me. I liked it enough but it didn't compare to Chiang. And it is a great comic book.

With so many creative change-ups in writing/artist teams for titles int he New 52, this is not surprising.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the WW relaunch. I do think it is nice to have WW more involved with the Greek dieties, but this take on the denizens of Olympus is just plain weird. It changes the characterizations of characters that have been set by stories for literally THOUSANDS of years. And if the "New DC" means everybody plays musical chairs every six months, DC is going to have a colossal mess and need yet another relauch within five years just to keep things understandable.

This series has been really good. Hopefully Azzarello will have more creative control.

I don't know...Azz did write many series during 100 Bullets so that might just happen again (that he will writing his main series and doing other stuff at the same time)

I've never been a big fan of the character. But it's good to see her costuem is still pretty much the same.
