Cheetahs are not Greek

They don't even live near Greece. Whole different continent, actually. So why is a Greek woman's arch foe an African cat?

#2 Posted by Black_Claw (3009 posts) - - Show Bio

Because a god granted her the appearance of an African cat.

Great point! Also, U.S. pilots are not Greek either, so why in the world is Steve Trevor a Greek Woman's love interest?

Just deal with it...

@jointron33: Actually, cheetahs and other big cats but especially cheetahs are associated with the Greek god Dionysus and his revelry. It's a carry over from transactions with the ancient Egyptians who prized Cheetahs and their fur. They were also highly revered during the era of Grecian Egypt so ha! They are Greek... kinda?

@jonny_anonymous: I think he means that their ancestors are greek or that they are from greek mythology.

To actually answer the question, Minerva wanted Wonder Woman's Lasso and used blood rituals to Urzkartaga to transform into the Cheetah. Circe would later make her Cheetah transformation permanent.

Lex is a mere Human from Earth so why is his arch foe some guy from the planet Krypton?

@jointron33: cheetahs live in africa as well as in asia. You need to think that the range of cheetahs in BC times was much greater and probably extended into Antolia and south eastern europe.

Cheetahs were imported as pets by quite a few rulers, since northern Africa in the ancient world wasn't some great unknown place and the Greeks were on their own quite capable seamen.
