Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8804 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
Brutally Honest: Moments That Make You Shake Your Head
Biggest SMH moment? Easily in Blackest Night when Ganthet was able to control the other corps rings for replication because they are based on Oan technology and had a hidden safeguard that no one knew about except the Guardians :/ There are so many questions and confusion that this action raises I don't even know where to start. It comes off as being way too convenient for the situation.
I'm not even upset about the Power Girl thing. I'm PISSED off about the Wonder Woman thing. It completely invalidates Wonder Woman and insults her that this is her origin. Making her origin tie into Superman doesn't make her on an even footing with the Trinity. It makes her less than. THIS JUST UPSETS ME SO MUCH. AWWWWW!!!!!!
" Maybe the trinity needs to be abolished . "The Trinity exists because of their popularity it's not an actual organization.
"Every single appearance of Emma Frost makes me shake my head. "
corrected for truth.

jotham is totally right, you have no idea how much I loathe you for posting this pics, activated my gagreflex again.
Seriously, here I come to check this thread, one week after I posted the last time and now this.
I just don't feel welcome here anymore. :-)

Oh, other than my earlier comment, these moments, when I first read about them (I got into comics back in 2008) made me angry, to the point that I wanted to organize everyone here to stage a coup on the comic companies:
-The trouble with keeping the Justice League roster (with the trinity) stable throughout volume 2 (though I do like the new lineup they have right now)
-Spider-Man's problems because of OMD
-The sheer amount of (prominent and secondary) character deaths in these past few years
-The fact that they turned the Scarlet Witch into an insane killer and Daredevil into a puppet for a demon
-Depowering Static
-Completely messing up the Marvel Family
-Deciding to alter Wonder Woman's timeline
-The fact that they put Earth-Man into the Legion of Super-Heroes and made Mon-El a Green Lantern
-The arguments stemming from the storytelling of "Grounded" (and the way it is being depicted)
-Power Girl having financial troubles
-Not changing David Reid back to normal
-The fact that Jean Grey is still dead
-Hawkman and Hawkgirl being disintegrated by the White Lantern
-Aquaman getting his hand cut off.....AGAIN
-Killing Holly Granger and Garth
-Green Arrow killing Prometheus
-Lian Harper being killed
-Roy Harper's downward spiral
-And finally, along with the above and some others I don't need to mention at this pointI think at some point this year, I'm going to write a letter/manifesto to both of the big two, to tell them to clean up their acts for good.....and for pete's sake, get rid of their obsession with death. Fewer and fewer big events More standalone issues or 2-3 part stories in a titleThe return of anthology titles and digests, if they want to get more readers No unecessary reboots, get writers who know and care for the characters they're tasked with telling tales of And finally, START DOING INTERCOMPANY CROSSOVERS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! "Maxwell Lord shooting Jaime Reyes in the head.
I really like you, you are after my taste, we are angry about exactly the same things
There's not one point where I'd disagree with you, okay maybe Intercompany Crossovers, I can live without them.
I'd just add Dolphin to Garth and Holly Granger.
And Jaime? First they unneccessarily kill of Ted Kord, albeit replacing him with a really good character, just to kill this character off in exactly the same way?
How I love the Didiot and Johns.
Seriously, each month I buy less superhero biiks by the big 2 and buy more comics from Dark Horse/ Image/ IDW and other indie publishers.
At elast, if I buy an Avatar comic, I know it will be tasteless, violent and full of gore and (probably) sex. I really don't need to see this in a regular Marvel or DC comicbook
When I read that issue of Superman, I got incredibly angry. I hate when writers use the "Oh, I saw Superman. Now I am a hero" cop-out. Yes. He's inspiring. But Wonder Woman should be a hero because of who she IS, not who she happened to SEE. I was very disappointed. And the fact that this is now part of her new canon is disappointing.
PG is an alternate version of a spin-off of Superman. Of cource she would compare herself to him.
How old is WW supposed to be? I mean, she is immortal, & while one of the youngest, how long was she on the island, training to be a warrior? Did the Amazons even have any contact with the outside? Superman is supposed to be the beginning of a new age of super heros, both in universe & in real life, so yeah, they should say WW was inspired by him.
& to be honest, I have asked alot of people this question, both in class, & at work, male & female, not one of them sees WW as on the same as Batman & Supes. They put her on the same level as GL, Flash, Aquaman. Above Hawkman & Jonn Jones. The top tier yeah, but not the "Trinity" as they are called.
Um...correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't JMS writing both the Superman and Wonder Woman books for awhile? And aren't both the guys writing them still following his notes for both books? I'm just wondering, if JMS was still on both titles, would everyone still be complaining about the whole WW thing?
It seems as if the signature feminist in Wonder Woman was completely destroyed. I have never been a big Wonder Woman fan, but even I am appalled at this horrible writing. Why Wonder Woman, I will agree needed some form of modernization or update, but completely destroying her as an icon for women in power was the wrong way to take this character. Wonder Woman since the beginning was as I see her supposed to be merciless and strong, and especially would never bow her head to any man.The concept of putting her below Superman is only reinforcing every Gender Role in our society that Wonder Woman was fighting against. For example one of my favorite (other than her kiss with superman) portrayals of Wonder Woman was during the Batman and Robin All Star run, while her appearance was short to me someone had finally gotten Wonder Woman right. She powerful and self reliant, this is where this writer you pointed out failed, but her vulnerability was correctly portrayed. In the example offered by Babs we see Wonder Woman Idealizing Superman. Like I said I believe Wonder Woman was never designed or intended to be put beneath man, or vulnerable because they are greater or more complete. ( The irony is that Superman has and always will be more lost than Wonder Woman) Wonder Woman knows who she is and what she stands for, Wonder Woman's weak area should lye in her lack of understanding of the world around her not herself. She is self confident and reassured when written correctly, but at that same time lacks understanding of the world around her. A short rant I may back this up with examples later, but the basic concept of how she was wrongly portrayed I hope gets across.
