    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

Volume 2 as CV defines it, from 1987 to 2006. That's 227 issues. I'd like to read some but don't know where to start. Generally the beginning of volumes are better (if only because the person who had the ideas to start the book is writing & later artists have to come up with more obscure ideas), but I like more modern books (ie: mid-90's & later).

Are there any stories in this volume that really stand out?

@gokuwarrior: Thanks! (Who's that last one? Jeph Loeb? He did WW? (wouldn't be surprised it sucked though. Only DC stuff he's done well were Batman & Superman/Batman)

@gokuwarrior: I think you may be thinking of Supergirl (which I haven't read, but have heard people hated him on that), because I can't find any evidence of him writing WW.

@lightsout: William Messner-Loebs, not Jeph Loeb. And yes, it was terrible. Avoid John Byrne's run too. Perez and Rucka's runs were the best ones. Simone's was OK. Jimenez was OK too.

    Simone's run was volume 3

First arc that comes to mind is The Contest.

I haven't read the entire volume, but I can speak for the quality of the Perez and Rucka runs. The first 24 issues (Perez was on the book for 62 issues) are all excellent, and they are also all available in TPB. The Rucka run was good, but I would say not as good as Perez (though if you like more modern books, the Rucka run is the way to go).

Of course, none of it compares the 70s live action show staring Lynda Carter.

So was Heinberg's, I don't care, I was just giving good Wonder Woman stories. Though personally, the Circle fell apart for me at the end, but everyone else seems to enjoy it.

I agree - I meant that as a joke, really. The TV show has a lot more in common with the Golden Age Wonder Woman than anything else, especially the 1st season, which was set during WWII.

The OP specified Vol. 2. You should care. The name "Heinberg" looks a lot like "Heisenberg" and every time I hear it I imagine Wonder Woman being told by Bryan Cranston to stay out of his territory.
