Looks like Harley Quinn will be the only female title I'm reading from DC.
Wonder Woman
Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
Be careful what you wish for: David Finch taking over WW
@lvenger: just saw went to his twitter page he say he not fan of answering rumor but he is a huge fan of Azz wonder woman btw if dc wanted someone who had the same style as david finch but draws a better wonder woman they should of went with jason fabok
This is what a "good Wonder Woman" looks like to you? She looks like a 15 year old stripper from Uzbekistan. If the next WW looks anything like this I'll sure as hell drop the book, regardless of the writing. As a designer, the artwork is supremely important to me, it makes or breaks a character really.

No it's not good for me because I seldom get what I want. Both Wonder Womans have dumb-looking faces and look like strippers but at least David's is an adult
@archizoom: relax it just comicbook if your not going to buy it cause you dont like the art find it your money spend how ever you wish
I like David Finch's art for the most part although his stories are consistently bad, I guess eh? I don't mind booty so I'm not gonna b**ch about "oh her ass is gonna be too big!"
I knew it was coming, but I don't like that Finch is taking over...looks like Bats and Green Arrow are gonna be my only two DC books!
@bezza: I actually like it but...to like it I had to read it like 5 Times to truly appreciate it (I read trades)
@judasnixon: really? you must not have been around during lobos new 52 redisign
My thoughts: as I said in he ain't that bad in writing but thats probably just me and bezza as for art it was awesome I also like one face (yeah so sue me) but now due to his recent work...im worried for the book art wise
His writings: a solid B
his art: C-
People I'd have preferred to take over on art duty, in no particular order:
- Mikel Janin, consistently beautiful, able to depict some really bizarre scenes.
- Jay Lee, would maintain that WW is a good place to look for uncommon art, and it looks great
- Goran Sudzuka, the better of Chiangs two fill-in's
- J. H. Williams III... if DC hadn't screwed up everything between them and the Batwoman team...
- And whoever it was that drew this:
Automaton Trinity from JLA #2 . . .effin' sweet!
I don't know what all of the hate is about here. Finch is a brilliant illustrator who's signature drawing style sells comics.
I haven't read any of his writing, so I can't speak to that point, but I doubt that he will be doing both duties given his track record with DC in the past.
All of you naysayers that are dumping on this, with elitist disdain, might consider waiting to see what the quality of the product establishes itself to be before you get to plunging with that "holier than thou" stick. It's because of silly, stupid, bitching like this that causes Wonder Woman to continue to be pants-less to this day. To get bent out of shape based on rumor, opinion, and conjecture is such a colossal waste of energy, it boggles the mind.
All any Wonder Woman fan wants is for Wonder Woman to have success and be treated with respect, placing her at equal footing with the other 2 components of the Trinity. Providing this rumor is true, DC would be trying to achieve that with David Finch on art chores, placing one of the biggest names in the industry on a title and character that deserves nothing less than an A-list creative team.
@outside_85: i think that art is Doug Mahnke imo he make WW look to much like a man also mikel janin said he done with with JLD and is doing another dc book that going to be announce soon so here hoping it WW but bad news it would mean finch is writing it.
I'll certainly check it out before I criticize, but the images you all have been putting off have me nervous. Seriously, if people just want to see Wonder Woman (or any character) prancing around like a porn star, just go to Deviantart and do a search - it's free. I was hoping Chiang's art was indicative of DC's general direction with the character, but now I have my doubts.
@darknightspideyfanboy: Hmm, it might be Mahnke, but I am not quite sure because he tends to draw everyone with their eyes shrunk into their heads unless they wear a mask. (like that page from GL where the League shows up to bust Baz's backside)

Ugh it's such a shame that Wonder Woman is going to end up as the antithesis of Green Arrow. In short, Wonder Woman's title will go from one of the best in DC's New 52 to one of the most generic and blandest titles most likely if Finch is involved.
I'm not freaking out yet because i've seen his pencil work, it's actually very good technically except the women but that's an epidemic in the comic universe. Chiang is almost unique in his very decent portrayal of women. I believe someone else does the inking in forever evil and it's at this stage that the art turns sour.

You're right, I'm bent out of shape, the mind is boggled. Folks opinions can sway the direction of a book or character (I briefly mentioned pants before) and it sounds like this will be dead before it ever gets a chance to get off the ground (providing the rumor is true) as everyone is so "matter of fact" with the negative statements. It's depressing me to see all this hate, I had to vent.
I'm a Finch fan and a Wonder Woman fan and the two together sounds like a win! I vented, I'm still bent and boggled and now I'm a little weepy.
= more energy wasted.
While I much prefer the Doug Mahnke drawing posted earlier, and Cliff Chaing's proportions, the image to the left is still a beautiful illustration.
@super-wonder: hey that Actually look better is that from this year? lol on the marvel part of the picture

Technically his pencil work is brilliant but she still looks like a bimbo and her upper body is seriously disproportionate, her shoulders are so so narrow...It's a beautiful drawing, that's just not Wonder Woman. Chiang didn't draw her the way he would someone else, he put some thought into it. Women by David Finch are all cast in the same mold, regardless of who they are and where they come from, whether it's Wonder Woman, Lois Lane or some lady scientist, they all look the same

That's true for a lot of artist too, Kenneth Rocafort is a good example (love his art too), there are a lot if pro guys that do it. I'm not sure if it's a method used to cut drawing time out of an assignment, it's just easier to draw from what you know, maybe.

Apparently Finch's wife is writing the book

WHAT? Oh that's blatant BS if that's true. An unknown writer who happens to be related to one top artist at DC writing Wonder Woman. Ugh just terrific. And we don't know whether she's experienced or not or whether she's a credible writer who can understand Wonder Woman well. Be careful what you wish for indeed -_-
How is this anyone's fault? It sounds like Azz's run is finished, he didn't get drummed off of the title or anything. He's said his run has an endgame so I guess he reached it.

Well: So... Who Is The Woman Writing David Finch's Wonder Woman?

Yeah but they could at least make little adjustments. Chiang didn't do anything drastically different to Wonder Woman, he just bulked her up. He didn't give her a lot of muscle definition either.
@jonny_anonymous: That's not too much experience though is it?

I agree with you. Subtle attention to detail is the mark of a good artist.
Anyway, I'm a little more reserved about creative effort now that Mrs. Finch is tied to this new initiative, but still routing for the Finch team . . . . . providing this rumor is true. . . . What's the likeliness that it's not true?

Bleeding Cool gets this stuff right quite a lot of the time (they predicted Johns and JRJR on Superman too), so I'd say it's decently reliable.
I hope that the overall tone of the run will take a brighter shine. Azz's tone as well as characterization of Diana and her supporting cast can be interpreted as being a little too dark. Another issue I had with his run is that he primarily focused on telling one, long, drawn out story. So for the new run, I hope that the pacing will be better (faster), and more stories could be told. Diana's supporting cast doesn't have to be so big, she just needs a stable cast that can support her and be fleshed out nicely without taking ALL of the focus away from Wonder Woman herself. Hoping for the best.

Actually it looks like a pretty damn good drawing of Wonder Woman to me. I love WW but goddamn does her fanbase annoy me. Is there any other character out there that has fans that obsess constantly about her looks and costume?
@mpfly88: It's because she looks like a gormless dumb ass floozy far too often. She's not supposed to look like that yet they keep doing it. The brief is to draw Wonder Woman, they deliver strippers so why in hell should I be okay with that since they're obviously not doing their job properly.

Did she dislocate her hip or something? This illustration would be a lot better if Wonder Woman was allowed to stand like a normal human being.
...Yeah I'm definitely not reading Wonder Woman after Azz is gone if this is true. Finch's Dark Knight series was absolutely atrocious, he made Daniels look like a competent writer in comparison if you compare their series. Plus Finch's artwork doesn't suit the tone of Wonder Woman at all IMO. Plus I don't like it that much. Well I hope the Anti Azzarello brigade is happy because now they have this mess on their hands. For all their whining about Azzarello, Finch's poor writing and ghastly characterisation will make them beg for Azzarello to come back to the series. Mark my words on that one...
Wait you no likey One-Face and White Rabbit? LOL. To Finch's credit his Scarecrow was pretty good, and Bane was decent. Still if he writes then expect it to be a horrible nay atrocious book.
