    Excellent Characterization

    The Story:

Agent Diana Prince is assigned to capture Wonder Woman by her boss Sarge Steel. Circe is playing a game of manipulation as she resurrects Hippolyta leading to a full-scale war.

    My Thoughts:

This five issue story arc is written by American novelist Jodi Picoult. It's her first venture into the world of comics but after reading this, you would have thought she's been writing comics for years. It's easy to see she's an experienced writer. The way she wrote multiple themes was executed so well. The power behind them was really felt throughout the pages. Readers can really get a feel for Wonder Woman's character and understand and appreciate what it is that's she's experiencing. The realism behind it is felt as she battles her conscious while at the same time dealing with her responsibilities as Wonder Woman.

Jodi Picoult decided to bring back Circe once again. I liked what she did with her character. The way Circe played with Wonder Woman's emotions was a good move in my opinion. The whole human/amazon dilemma Wonder Woman is battling Circe takes advantage of knowing just how to punish her. Of course bringing back her mother will do that too. The cliffhanger at the end was awesome. The dialogue not only just then but throughout the whole story was powerful. I'm definitely looking forward to the Amazon's Attack story arc that follows next.

The art team for this comic was comprised of Drew Johnson & Ray Snyder, Terry Dodson & Rachel Dodson and Paco Diaz. All excellent choices who draw some truly beautiful panels. The very first splash page of Diana in her Wonder Woman costume holding the fallen roller-coaster full of citizens was so symbolic. Beautifully drawn to perfection. I especially enjoy the art team of Terry and Rachel Dodson. They always put out exceptional work.

A must read for any Wonder Woman fan out there. If you're relatively new to her character and are interested in checking out some of her comics then you should look into this. First I'd recommend reading the prior trade "Who Is Wonder Woman" to get the full effect of what's going on with her character.
