Best-selling author Jodi Picoult (The 10th Circle, Sister's Keeper) takes the writing reins, setting Wonder Woman on a collision course with her long-missing people, the Amazons! Special Agent Diana Prince of the Department of Metahuman Affairs is assigned the impossible task of capturing Wonder Woman! How she can capture herself is just the start of Wonder Woman's problems, as Diana Prince must relearn how to exist as a human woman and a deadly foe begins closing a net on the Amazon Warrior that will lead to a catastrophic outcome! With gorgeous art by Drew Johnson and Ray Snyder (52)!

Special Agent Diana Prince of the Department of Metahuman Affairs is on assignment with her partner Tom Tresser (also known as Nemesis) at a superhero amusement park. Their assignment is to watch over a contesstant that won a reality tv show to become the new Maxi-Man. When Diana's partner becomes frustrated for having to "babysit," the new Maxi-Man protests that he does not need a babysitter. He is quickly knocked out as a piece of a roller coaster hits him in the head. There is now a piece of the track missing with a coaster on the way. She orders Tom to get Maxi-Man to safety as she works on getting the crowd away from the roller coaster. Quickly, Wonder Woman is on scene to save the riders.

Diana finds it difficult trying to understand humans. She finds that she doesn't know how the basic things like paying for gas or how to pump it work.

Back at the Department of Metahuman Affairs, Sarge Steel is not happy that Wonder Woman, who is still a fugitive, was at the very same amusement park that two of his agents were at. Their new orders are to bring her in because she is wanted to answer some questions about the murder of Max Lord.

Tresser is overjoyed to be on the Wonder Woman case. Later, Wonder Woman confronts him. She comes on to him and asks him what he had planned once he got her. Tresser tries saying that he's on her side. She ties him with her lasso which transforms into snakes. This Wonder Woman wasn't who she appeared to be.

Diana is called back to headquarters. Tresser's car has been found. There was evidence of a struggle and Wonder Woman's bracelets were found at the scene. Diana knows those aren't Wonder Woman's bracelets because she has them. He tells her to take them to the lab to see what they can find. Diana heads out instead. She already knows that they came from a museum display of her. Changing into Wonder Woman, she is determined to find Tom before it's too late.

At the museum, Tom is seen bound with mystical chains as Circe stands behind him.

As opposed to other issues in the relaunch which have made references to Wonder Woman publication past, this one sort of takes a "breaking the fourth wall" approach in discussing Diana's place in the DC universe.  First of all  the Wonder Woman milkshake has been discontinued in lieu of a Black Canary milkshake at a fast food stand Diana and Tom go to, and then when looking at superhero memorabilia Diana notices how Wonder Woman items are on sale and Tom explains that people just don't like her ...

I had no expectations going into the new arc but I was really hoping that for the first time, a female writer could do justice to Wonder Woman, one of my earliest childhood heroes. I have never read any of Picoult's novels but the reviews of her latest novel left me thinking she might WW very dark and somewhat Bat-ish, which I'd still read to see if I liked it. I'm willing to give anything a shot at this point.I was very surprised and impressed with Picoult's first issue of WW. I was not expecti...
