What's going on here? 1
For a title that has had some...release problems, now that it's back on a regular schedule, I feel like I've missed something. Was there an issue 4 1/2? Last issue ended with Wonder Woman (Diana) about to face off against a bunch of her rogues. Now here we begin with Diana investigating some women's shelter that apparantly has some connection to Wonder Woman. It's my understanding that DC wanted to get the comic back out on an actual shedule. I commend them for that. You can't have one of ...

Violence Against Women - Wonder Woman Says No 0
In this issue, Wonder Woman discovers that she has inspired women to rise up against violence. The story was pretty sloppy and looked like a fill-in job was done. Even when addressing a serious issue of violence and women, it's actually more disturbing than inspirational. Later issues have already told us that she is wonderful... that's why she is called Wonder Woman. No? Which takes me to a scene in which a retired supervillian is beating his wife and that scene makes Wonder Woman look like a b...

Despite the end of last issue which promised maybe an action packed issue here, this one didn't take its lead. Instead we have a story about Diana's legacy and it is a very good one. Sort of building on the theme from the previous issue of being an agent against women's suffering Diana is sent by Sarge to investigate a women's shelter which may or may not have links to Wonder Woman. What this details though is the struggles of women against abusive men (usually husbands as they are depicted) ...

While I have more than fond memories of me drooling over George Perez's magnificent resurrection of the Wonder Women character in the early 90s, I remembered that he focused on one primary thing, which was Wonder Woman's Godhood and her being adamant on following the ways of the Gods. The constant threats of the Zeus' and Hades' rarely gave her time to contemplate what it was like to be a human. Whatever human tendencies she displayed was subtly done and we understood it.
