Home Is Where The Family Is

Zola's flown the coop. The demi-god Cassandra continues her search for the first-born whilst Apollo Tortures him on Olympus, and Wonder Woman returns home to Paradise Island. Will the first-born swear his allegiance to Apollo? Will Wonder Woman be reunited with her family once again?

    The Pros:

I really enjoyed how each page transitioned with a nice flow in an almost scene-by-scene style. It had a very episodic element to it that did not appear too busy. I never felt at any point that the story jumped around too much. Each scene had me unglued and anticipating the turn of the page. Dionysus fulfills his his role as god of the harvest, wine, and fertility. His scene with Zola captured his essence as an indulgent character, but I have a feeling his endgame is sour in taste. The writing at the beginning was stunning, gut wrenching almost. I highly underestimated Apollo's character. I read his personage as one who craved power, but I felt it more pronounced in this issue than in any other. He is one that is not be trifled with.

    The Cons:

The only thing that really comes to mind is the syntax on one panel in which Diana is on Paradise Island. It was a bit confusing and I found myself reading it a few times over. Other than that, this issue was without fault.

I studied at length the iconography of William Moulton Marston's 40s run of Wonder Woman, and I must say that I've thoroughly enjoyed the direction Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang have taken this character and her divine counterparts into.
