razzatazz's Wonder Woman #234 - And Death My Destiny! review

    Heart of Darkness

This issue is absolutely one of the best of the entire silver age.  It is based on the Earth 2 World War 2 Wonder Woman, but it examines an issue actually in interesting detail.  After dealing with the leviathan from the previous issue Diana confronts the captain of the U- but inadvertently gets captured.  Throughout the issue the captain is uttering racial epithets at one of his one of his prisoners, which I felt was kind of wrong, even for a comic about this era, but in the end it makes sense.  Essentially there is a Jewish man that can control sea life and he is working for the nazis because his children are in a concentration camp.  This doesn't make the nazis like him at all though.  In the end Wonder Woman acts almost exactly as i would hope she would and so does the prisoner.  Well worth the read (though read the previous issue first).
