razzatazz's Wonder Woman #169 - Wonder Woman Battles the Crimson Centipede! review

Thats the best he could come up with?

This is a two part story and both parts are about equally as bad.  In the first story Wonder Woman is battling a beast created by Mars (which technically should be the Greek Ares) called the Crimson Centipede.  Mars has created it to show Aphrodite that Wonder Woman can be bested by something, but in doing so he created just about the most useless villain ever though.  I don't know why he didn't create a gigantic shadow beast that shoots lava from its eyes and can disintegrate matter.  Instead he creates a man with eight sets of arms and eight sets of feet.  The first story is made all the worse by the fact about how much people are saying how the Centipede is the ultimate foe ever, including Diana.

Suffice to say despite his seemingly "ultimate power" he is pretty easily subdued in the end with one or two punches.  the second story is better if only because it doesn't have the Crimson Centipede.  In it General Darnell and Colonel Trevor are fighting for Wonder Woman's heart again.

And this is when Trevor gets court martialed

Diana goes on a date with Darnell to prove to Steve that she is not so completely in love with him.  Diana and Darnell get kidnapped and then Trevor comes to rescue them.  Overall I would highly recommend against reading this issue.  Both stories felt like reading one of those Hostess ads from the 70s except longer and with less plot
