razzatazz's Wonder Woman #138 - The Loss review

Not the best place to start reading

This issue would cause a great deal of confusion with someone who just jumped into the series, but for the long running Wonder Woman reader this is a near perfect issue.  Circe is here trying to punish Diana through her actions against Hippolyta for the human experiences she had as Donna Milton, including being friends with Diana.  As such this issue references a lot of stuff which happened right before the Byrne run, but in doing so it wraps up some of the loose ends marvelously (and about three years too late for the fans).  There are some funny moments in here as the battle on the moon leaves Flash in a bizarre state of being, especially so for the fastest man alive.  In the end though it is not the action rather the very real human moments which make this issue shine.
