razzatazz's Wonder Woman #119 - Mer-Boy's Secret Prize review

    Lacking

The first story here is an absolute oddity.  Merboy wants to win a pearl tiara to win Wonder Girl's heart after she tells him she can't have anything to do with him.  The winner of the contest must capture the most interesting thing while fishing.  He eventually loses but he wins anyway by appealing to her vanity.  The second story has todo with a girl that has proven herself to be a better athlete than any of the Holliday Girls.  When she meets Wonder Woman she asks to use her Amazon items but she is not allowed.  As with a few issues previously though she wins a contest and gets three wishes from Diana.  This is kind of silly as it sort of takes the luster off of the previous issue which I thought was well told and replaces it with a much poorer version.  Despite being a contest that Diana herself created she foolishly gives her items away to the child.   Of course she has to save her in various situations, but it is strange that Diana ever acted like that in the first place.  Overall this issue sort of suffered, the first story from a stereotypical outlook of what makes women happy, the second from a ridiculous application of logic by a comic book character.
