X-Men Origins Wolverine Is Too Violent For Swedes
In case you were unaware, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" opens this week. It's premiered in some places already. Across the United States, people are preparing for the midnight showings in their neighborhoods. In Sweden, there will not be any children seeing the movie.
According to Variety, the Swedish Board Of Film Censors has given the movie its highest rating, a "15 Classification." What that means is no one under fifteen will be admitted to the movie, even if accompanied by an adult. It's mentioned that the previous X-Films were rated 11 but kids age 7 could still see them with a parent.
Fox tried appealing the rating. Fox Sweden CEO Hansi Mandoki issued a statement saying he was bummed that many fans won't be able to see the movie and will most likely download it illegally.
Have you seen the movie yet? Does it seem too violent to you? This is a movie based a franchise they've most likely seen. There's cartoons and toys based on it. Should parents be allowed to decide on what their kids see?
Them poor poor neutral swedish babies lol but it may not really be a bad thing. We've talked about how a bunch of parents bring their kids to these adult super hero movies and then gt made and leave when its gory
Doesn't Sweden have a high depression and suicide rate? Maybe this explains why...
Violence is to Sweden and a lot of Europe what nudity is to the United States and vice-versa. We love to see stuff stabbed and blown up. They love to have lesbian lovers in orange juice commercials.
"Poor Wanderer lol"rofl, I'm 15 so I'd be able to see the movie if I wanted to (and WITHOUT being distracted by small kids and parents!). Then again I wasn't gonna see the movie either way xD
It reminds me of 300 !
Blood, Sex, Head decapitated, violence and History rewritten, but in my country (Belgium) children was allowed to see it, even without their parent ! Censor must been sleepin' when they see this movie !
Make no mistake, I love this movie but I can still see beyond his strength.
I didn't see yet Wolvie, but I'm curious to see if the Censorship will be THIS forgetful with it !
Jebus.. The bloody scenes, which no doubt are the scenes in question are all so cgi'd it's like watching a cartoon. In fact, I had this conversation as I was leaving the theatre.. I thought it was a PG.
The reaction seems a bit excessive, but my standards for violence are pretty loose. I thought the movie could have done with more blood and a more mature focus, but Fox would never sacrifice the PG-13 demographic for the sake of a better story...
This seems kind of ridiculous to me. I can't see Hugh Jackman supporting a Wolverine movie that kids couldn't go see.
"The reaction seems a bit excessive, but my standards for violence are pretty loose. I thought the movie could have done with more blood and a more mature focus, but Fox would never sacrifice the PG-13 demographic for the sake of a better story..."Violence = Good story?
Since when?
I don't see no harm as long there is something is in play that says hey... This movie is going to be pretty bloody for kiddies. It's pretty much left up to the parent to use their desecration as to what their child can see. The Watchmen is a true example of what could be an embarrassing moment with a under age viewer if you don't read comics or do movie your home work.
" Bio Guyver said:Lmfao!!"Poor Wanderer lol"rofl, I'm 15 so I'd be able to see the movie if I wanted to (and WITHOUT being distracted by small kids and parents!). Then again I wasn't gonna see the movie either way xD "
Well Emma is in it.... That's what made me want to see it..
Swings sword at!" what, the're vikings for crying out loud "
Taste steel, fiend!
