What's going on with The Wolverine these days? Looks like Fox is ready to reveal some information about the movie. There was a time when a casting sheet was leaked and they immediately had that pulled from several sites (including ours).

To prepare for the movie, Fox has started a Facebook page and there is some new information there.

A plot outline has been posted stating the following:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.
== TEASER ==

Do yourself a favor and check out Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 WOLVERINE miniseries for an idea what this could be about.

There was also some question as to who would be playing Viper. Originally Jessica Biel was linked to the role but now it appears that Svetlana Khodchenkova has the role.

Will she have green hair?

The movie is set to be released on July 26, 2013.

You know ... I dont even care anymore...

Don't care. If it ends up defying expectations, great. Otherwise, *shrug*

It's time for Fox to stop making money on these films so they can sell back the rights to Marvel.

X-Men and X2 are two of the best superhero movies, I think, and First Class was ok despite being rushed and suffering in any time spent with the students, but The Last Stand and Wolverine were some of the worst cinematic abortions this side of Man-Thing and the 1994 Fantastic Four.

She'd better have green hair.

The one thing I like is that all these super hero movies coming out seem to be based off of Frank Miller runs. Says a lot about his awesome stories.

@cmaprice: Do you really have to refer to every bad movie as an abortion? =.=

Anyway, I don't know anything about the story arc, but it is another movie with Jackman as Wolverine, so I'll watch it.

Uber excited for this movie.

Looking forward to this. Hopefully it'll be better than origins.

@Joygirl: if they use the same person who chose the blonde dye for the sabretooth's hair in wolverine origins...don't expect much

I am looking forward to this as I think this film will rectify the mistakes in the last film as besides the mistakes (mainly Deadpool) it wasn't a bad movie

Ughhh would Fox just give all these movie rights back to Marvel PLEASE

#13 Posted by haydenclaireheroes (9064 posts) - - Show Bio

I think it is very cool that this plot will be centered around Wolverine in Japan. I think this movie can end up being really good.

I'll judge it when I've seen it ....

What exactly was confirmed by this vague summary? Based on this it's X-Men Origins all over again.

This.

A prime example of casting ignoring physical appearance completely. Jackman is a weed compared to what Howlett should look like in film.

@cmaprice: First Class shines in comparison to any of the original X films. X2 was the best of the three, but was still poor and miscast as per usual. Last Stand and Origins are diabolical though.

Why people think Ian McKellan is good as Magneto I'll never know, he's so persistently weak.

I feel the same way but the only way that's going to happen is if these non-Disney/Marvel movies by Fox and Sony stop making money. I'd love to see Marvel get the rights to Spider-Man and then he could start doing stuff with The Avengers...but that last Sony Spider-Man movie made a lot of money so the odds of Sony relinquishing the rights to the Spider-Man films and film likeness are slim.

I will watch this no matter what, I love comic book movies, even if the plot is mediocre and it doesn't follow comic book continuity. I love the action scenes.

Wolverine's been a little overplayed. How bout we focus on some of the other X-Men for a while.

If it's an abortion of a film, then yes.
If it's half-baked to begin with, and it's butchered in every level of production, I think that's a fairly apt description of it.

But, no, I rarely refer to films as such-- only when they are particularly trite, big-budget pieces of shite that had potential, but never came close to reaching it in any respect.

Something is telling me to let this go, but oh well. I don't think the bold, underlined part was called for but I do know its more of a subjective reaction on my part.

This is the Oxford meaning of the word:

Definition of abortion
noun
1 mass noun the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks:concerns such as abortion and euthanasiacount nounillegal abortions
the expulsion of a fetus from the womb by natural causes before it is able to survive independently.
Biology the arrest of the development of a seed, fruit, or other organ.
2an object or undertaking that is unpleasant or badly made or carried out.

You were good along the lines of Def #2. Just saying.

I'm well aware of the definitions of the word, but thank you for sharing?
I'm not making any veiled political commentary with this post. I really don't care what personal views anyone holds regarding any particular medical procedure, and I've certainly not indicated my own, as it is irrelevant.

The phrase "cinematic abortion" should offend no one but potentially the filmmaker. If it does, that's really too bad, though not my intention.

I hope that it is entertaining but I'm far more interested in the next First Class film than another Wolverine picture...

@cmaprice: But you're aware that it offends some people, so simply choosing a synonym of the word would be appreciated, that's all.

#44 Posted by Danial79 (2351 posts) - - Show Bio

I haven't like an X-Men film since X2, so I'm crossing my fingers that this one will be awesome.

From Merriam-Webster:
noun
...
2. Monstrosity
3. arrest of development (as of a part or process) resulting in imperfection; also : a result of such arrest

I don't give a rat's rump if a word with a legitimate definition, used in a legitimate way offends some random unnamed person. That is not my intention, but it's also not my problem. Such people either don't understand that words have multiple meanings, or they are really far too uptight. The concept of suicide strikes home for me, having as a child, witnessed my father killing himself. Does that mean I can dictate that people shouldn't say anything about something like Suicide Squad? Nope. Do christians get to tell us we can't express opinions about Punk Rock Jesus? Nope.

Rest assured, I'll take your suggestion under advisement, though. Have a nice day.

No interest in this, or any Logan  film, these days. Wolverine is completely played out and boring in the comics , so why just ramp up the faults with another path of least resistance film?

And Jennifer Jason Leigh should be the Viper.
