With a fiery passion but I'm a reasonable guy, so heres your chance to make a convert out of me, what are some of the best Wolverine trades/graphic novels that will bring me over to the dark side and make me change my mind about the runt?
Wolverine
Character » Wolverine appears in 16086 issues.
A long-lived mutant with the rage of a beast and the soul of a Samurai, James "Logan" Howlett's once mysterious past is filled with blood, war, and betrayal. Possessing an accelerated healing factor, keenly enhanced senses, and bone claws in each hand (along with his skeleton) that are coated in adamantium; Wolverine is, without question, the ultimate weapon.
I Hate Wolverine
Why do you hate him?over used, over exposed, over powered (he's got better senses than Daredevil, better H2H than Chi-less Iron Fist, expert at using computer systems, unbreakable bones and a healing factor thats off the chart but he doesn't even need half that stuff because his soul cant leave his body so he cant die anyway
in his marvel handbook@spiderbat87: When was he shown to be an expert in computers?
well I don't really know since I don't read any of his books@spiderbat87: well thats just BS. i know hes intelligent, dont get me wrong, in the first issues of wolverine v3 he was reading a lot, daily. but hes no computer wiz.
the TPB of his original mini series was good stuff, seriously, he was written a lot better before becoming Marvels bread and butter
I like Wolverine but they really need to tone down everything. People talk about Superman being corporate and trying to be everything but he doesn't hold a candle to Wolverine.
He's a berserker killing machine yet he's a moral headmaster for a school
He's a dunk slut who sleeps with anything that walks yet he is a mentor to young girls
He's a loner but is on more teams then team characters also leads half of the X-Men
He's a samurai yet he is a suit wearing mobster.
They need to stop making him be everything
Tone down the healing factor.
Stop being on so many teams.
Neither the starter or the leader of the X-Men.
No computer expert.
I dislike Wolverine for the reasons Squares and FadeToBlackBolt said here: http://www.comicvine.com/wolverine/29-1440/i-really-dont-like-wolverine/92-649836/
they said it better than I can
Wolverine is by Favorite Super-hero for his powers, strengths, and bad-ass-ness. Other than that, his stories are pretty lack-luster to me.

Why force yourself into liking a character you hate? There are so many other characters to choose from.
This.
I liked Enemy of the State as a personal favorite cause that was just a badarse story. His Uncanny X-Force stuff has him with a toned down healing factor since Remender doesn't like it all jacked (so I've heard). He's been pretty close to dying in a couple of issues. And Aaron's stuff I like. Also his Manifest Destiny issues were good.

Over used and over exposed, without a doubt. Better senses than Daredevil? Debatable. Expert at using computer systems, urm...no. Unbreakable bones, only partially because he has had his adamantium stripped of him on one occasion (Magneto did that once) as well as never having adamantium in the beginning (before entering the Weapon X project). Healing factor off the charts? Don't think so, Deadpool has a much better healing factor than Wolverine, Wolverine takes time to heal as well, it's not instant. His soul can't leave his body? Never heard of that one, so I'm not sure.
I suggest reading the Wolverine series from 2002/2003 by Frank Tieri, quite like the way his depicted in that series and it's a nice read in my opinion. Read X-Force, he leads that group, you could maybe get a better understanding of him if you read a comic where he leads a group and maybe opens up more to his true personality. I've read some Wolverine comics so I'm not an expert at this, this is all I know from what I've read. Hope it helps but I do agree that you shouldn't waste your time on a character you dislike like Flash said. Spend more time on characters that you like or have not read much about them, that's my advice :)
Well I do think Marvel should tone down Wolverine a bit. But I still think he is awesome. I mean who else could say they have wen't toe to toe with the Hulk and servied ? Ok except for Thor and Hercules.
@spiderbat87: besides the fact that being really old allows one to gain knowlege over alot of things, it makes sense
i would check out old man logan, wolverine noir.

yes the need to scale back on him marvel's poster boy, but still i'm a fan of wolverine. i just don't read everything that he's in.

Old man logan is good, they toned down healing factor and senses so much. Other than that story i hate him to. I went to a Chris Claremont signing and even he said that both Wolverine and Deadpool are over used. He said that he intended for Wolverine to be a fun, every-now-and-then, character. not a main one.

@DeadpoolPT: i stopped reading your post after the 'debateble' unbreakable adamantium thing. you do know magneto used magnetism right?
Yeah thats why I said Magneto removed Wolverine's adamantium? I said debatable to the statement that apparently Wolverine has better senses than Daredevil.
I don't hate Wolverine but thanks to the over exposure and the overplay of his healing factor i've gone from thinking "Hey he's a pretty good character" to "Oh whats the point? He's got unbreakable bones and a healing factor that can regenerate him from a skeleton. I'll go read Squirrel Girl instead!"
As much as it pains me I actually prefer Daken to Wolverine now....yeah i said it.....
With a fiery passion but I'm a reasonable guy, so heres your chance to make a convert out of me, what are some of the best Wolverine trades/graphic novels that will bring me over to the dark side and make me change my mind about the runt?Wolverine: Enemy of the State
Wolverine: Old Man Logan (I think there is a TPB for this, if not it's Wolverine v3 issues #66-72)
Wolverine\Kitty Pyde-Limited Series (6 issues)
Wolverine: Logan (3 issues)
Wolverine: Origin (6 issues)
Uncanny X-Force
Weapon X (Marvel Comics Presents #72-84)

Any actual recommendations though?
- Wolverine: Origins
- Get Mystique
- Old Man Logan
- Enemy of the State
- Weapon X
These are all great recommendations. If you can get your hands on X-Force, that would be great as well.
Yes, that too. Excellent choice.

That's why I said it was debatable :)
Well, I can't think anything to recommend to you right off the dome, the only thing that comes to mind is Enemy of State and Old Man Logan, both of which are good stories, but I'm not sure that they're necessarily the thing that will make you like the character of Wolverine. That being said I can understand why people don't like the character, he's become Marvel "jack of all trades" in some sort of manner. They used his origin, more specifically the fact that it incorporates a different variety of things, most prominently the Berserker Animal, Samurai and the Weapon X concept to make him whatever is best suited for the story, in such a manner that not all of the attributes tend to be represented in the character at all times, with the average one simply choosing one and overlooking the others. Regardless, I'm going off on a mini-tangent/rant.
As for recommendations:
- Origin. (Not to be confused with Wolverine: Origins)
- Enemy of State (Which I know it goes against what I said, but a good read may be what is needed)
- Weapon X.
- His first solo series. Mini. 4 Issues.

@DeadpoolPT said:It's not...he just doesn't.That's why I said it was debatable :)
Alright alright *rolls his eyes* :P
I don't hate him. He can be a compelling character but his overexposure has made me soured towards him.
It's that so many writers handle his character nowadays, and they all give him a different interpretation. I like him best in the hands of Remender and Aaron.
But yeah, he's just everywhere....

Wolverine has also mastered space/time displacement. That's why he can seemingly be all over the place. Oh, and he doesn't have to sleep, so he never suffers fatigue either. =P (totally BSing here)

is Weapon X really that good?
Actually it REALLY is. I'm not a Wolverine fan, but the series is not all about him and the storytelling is IMO some of the best out there these days.
Hmm I thought I had whittled it down to Old Man Logan or X-Force but it looks like another one has entered the fray@oraclefyre said:

@spiderbat87: ...Except for some reason when I replied I read 'Weapon X' and my brain processed it as 'X-Force' xD My comment was intended for Uncanny X-Force, sorry. Weapon X isn't bad, but not great. Read X-Force.
It IS true what they say: Multitasking make you stupid lol
Weapon X: adamantium men Wolverine Soultaker Old Man Logan Wolverine Vol 4(Aarons run) Enemy Of The State Those are some of my favorites anyway, I for one am a huge wolvie fan but i do agree he is overexposed
