Pretty much everyone has gone to see "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" this weekend.  Even though today is not over, early reports are saying Wolverine will be bringing in a whopping $87 million dollars (in the U.S. box office, other reports say $160 million total).  This gives Wolverine the second best "X-Men" opening right after X2's $102.2 million.  But X2 had the advantage of a four-day holiday weekend.  Comparing Wolverine to Iron Man, last year it earned $102 million in this same weekend.  It looks like Wolverine did pretty well.

Now that he's shown Fox and Hollywood that he can carry his own movie (with a lot of mutant help, of course) what should the furry lil' mutant do next?  I'm sure we can all agree that there will be a sequel.  Yes we'd all love a Deadpool spin-off and even a Gambit one, but let's talk about Logan.

Hugh Jackman himself said he already talked to the writers and he's a big fan of Wolverine's Japanese saga.  There is still room in between this movie and the first X-Men movie.  His time in Japan would make a great storyline.  Should they try to bring in the Romulus story?  What about Daken?  Maybe joining Alpha Flight?  It could probably never happen, but what about his first meeting with Hulk?  Should the next movie even be another X-Men prequel?  Why not a story taking place after X3.  Can you tell where I'm going with this?  What about (say it with me...) "OLD MAN LOGAN"?  Maybe that'd be better for a third Wolverine spin-off or when (shudder) Hugh Jackman starts showing his age.

What do you think?  Where do you want Wolverine to go next?

hahaha, wow it is so depressing thinking of Hugh getting older.... I know this would be asking for a lot, but I think they could do a lot with Wolverine from here. I think they are going to do the Japan story (Silver Samurai, Lady Deathstrike, Wolverine's Samurai training) because it is already set up that way. I would really like to see an Alpha Flight movie without Wolverine in it so we can get their story and so not everything is about Wolverine. Then later down the road throw in Wolverine in Alpha Flight. Wolverine/Romulus/Daken story would be pretty sweet, but I am not sure what time that should occur because I am not too familiar with it.

On another note: I really wish they would have broken up the origins movie into several. For example have one starting out with the inception of his powers and him growing up in the 1800's. They could even have the whole movie split up into his life during each of the wars. Then a second movie would be with him on the special ops team with Stryker and show some of the missions they went on, maybe throw in Omega Red for fun. I would really have liked to seen a darker side to Wolverine. As far as I know, he wasn't always the nice guy, and I would like to see him do something that people wouldn't agree with. This could be done here. This way, all the characters in origins gets a lot of screen/story time. [ I guess these could still be done, but would be kind of oddly placed]. Then the last origins movie would be based on the majority of what happened in what just came out. Then they would have more time to involve Gambit and the others.

Way down the road, it would be pretty sweet to see Wolverine vs. Hulk. Maybe around the second Avengers movie or something.

That would pretty much be my wish list.

I'd like to see some of the Japanese stuff, his tragic relationship with Mariko.  But I guess they just had one failed relationship, so they'd probably avoid another.

At least if God *achem* Hugh Jackman does age, then he'd play a really good Old Man Logan... when he's ready for his pension ;)

YES YES YES A THOUSAND TIME YES!!!!

If not an AoA movie they should at leas bringf in Sinister/Apocolypse for a movie. You Sinister steals scott and jeans body to make X-Man and Xaiver takes the comatose dudes body that hes controllin back to the X-men Angel get kiddnaped turned into Archangel you bring in every X-Man cameo you can in all out showdown with the Acolytes/Horsemen vs X-men/Brotherhood while the rest of the world looks on as the people they fear become there saviors. Which at this point i say f-it to character development and just make it into a massive orgasmic event of watch everyones favorite muties use there powers to the fullest

The only good i could take from this movie is that ryan was good as wade wilson and i believe he can provide us a great deadpool.  I dont think there should be another wolverine movie because i fear what other random mutants they will throw into wolverine's story.  The more they try to make wolverine their own, the more i dont approve.  They need to take a cue from watchmen, batman begins, and 300.  Try and stick to the source material as much as possible!

I think the the whole WENDIGO(or "Win-dango" as kids called it here growing up) and HULK appearance could be done in any of his movies.  Like, as an ending after the credits and what not, y'know what I mean?

I am a big fan of Wolverine's time in Madripoor.  The whole "Patch" thing.  One of those films could end with a visit from Nick Fury.  Why not make Wolvie an Avenger in the movies too?  It's not crazy.  We're eventually going to get a huge "trilogy" of the crossover variety.

But anyway, that bar he's drinking in in the "climactic" alternate ending, that could become his.  Have Jubilee show up, gotta have Jubilation.  It would be great for Wolverine to get his best sidekick.  Kitty Pryde would be okay, but why would she be in Madripoor?

A Deadpool movie is now just a matter of time.  We're on a weekend high from the film being saved with Reynolds' performance alone.  it makes sense he wasn't around that much.  Much like Carrey's Riddler in Batman Forever, that would have been all anyone talked about.  But maybe that wouldn't be so bad.

I would like to see the people who wrote this pile of crap movie shot. that's what should be next. or at least give me my money back. I've been following wolverine and the xmen since the 80's and liked the first 20 minutes of the film, but hated the rest. maybe the writers should have read comics when they were kids, then they wouldn't make cash grab rubbish movies. I'm going to stick to the mavel anime movies from now on. at least they did a good job on deadpool and the rest of weapon x team in the anime. screw you hollywood. screw you.

I'm happy with it ending here. The movie was like a hot chick with bad breath, bad B-O, bad Conversation, and a flatulence problem. It had it's good moments (1st 20 Minutes and Ryan Reynolds) and it had it's terrible moments (The Fire Escape????Seriously?!?!). Unless they're going to do something that's on par with The Last Samurai for his time in Japan they need not make anymore movies.

u do that but if u read anything about hugh Jackman u would know he reads most of the wolverine comics since he got the wolverine role in x-men and i understand that hood spent a lot of money on wolverine and x-men books to learn more about the character.

I want Wolverine to go away.  Fox has proved that they can't be trusted to handle the character responsibly.  Plus, there isn't really any story left to be told, at least no one I'm interested in seeing.  I've set my sights on Batman 3, Iron Man 2 and Kenneth Branagh's Thor as my upcoming comic movies.

Maybe we'll get really lucky and he'll show up in the Avengers movie? I know Marvel for the most part like to keep the "X plots" separate from the rest of the universe and they already seem set on their lineup for the Avengers big movie debut. But as it's doubtful we'll see a Spider-Man cameo, it would be nice to see Logan.

If they are serious about rebooting the X-Men series as a whole with First Class, I really can't see them bringing on any of the actors from the previous movies, to avoid confusion. So Avengers would be a good way to keep Jackman in continuity.

As much as I would love to see Wolverine's Japan days, it just seems a little too... Obscure? For that type of Hollywood blockbuster. Old man Logan would no doubt be every one's favourite, but I dread the thought of Jackman getting too old!

Well, apparently FOX is happy with what money Wolverine brought in for them this weekend. I'm pretty sure the next Wolverine movie will be in production later this year or early 2010. Can you believe Hugh is 40 years old??? Wow, I sure hope to look like that when I'm 40! I love what his kid whispers to the girls he likes at school, "Y'know, my dad is Wolverine."

    Anyway, here's a line I found on Comics2film.com:

If you're looking for verification that the higher-ups at 20th Century are celebrating victory after a gut-wrenching April, look no further than VP of Production Jeff Katz's Twitter feed, where Katz makes the really icky proclamation:

"I just raped your childhood to the tune of $160M worldwide. And it felt lovely."

Really, Jeff Katz? You're sure want to button your hard-won victory with that?

Yeah, sounded a bit harsh even for a FOX exec. huh? Anyway, I could see Tiger Tiger, Sunfire, and Silver Samurai in the next Wolverine movie. The opposition? Well, bring in Tha Hand of course! Clan Yashida always seemed to play a big role in "Patch's" trip to Madripoor. Who could be a cool ally of Wolvie? Well, other than having Sunfire and Silver Samurai... Who else but Psylocke! Yes I know she was just a kid in the X3 movie, but we ALL know that wasn't REALLY Psylocke don't we?

Who knows? Maybe Cyber will show up for a battle! Fry him like an egg, Wolvster!

Agree with Deo Wade, Superboy12. I admit, despite I think the whole x men movie, personal opinioin, sucks. Wolverine Origin is  a good action movie if you threw away the whole fan-boy or comic militia head (I guess movie should have their own logic compared to the comic) and just enjoy the ride (kinda like brain wash i guess).

But if you said wolvie is better than Dark Knight, I hope you could tell me from which point of view. Cuz storyline, every other recently superhero movie beat the hell out of wolvie ori.

I would like to see X3 stricken from the record and have Fox redo the movie with ONE or TWO REAL WRITERS... NOT A DOZEN

Origins was a mockery of logic and comic canon...that said as a brainless action flick it fared pretty well IMO. I could write you a page long list of things in the movie that were ridiculous and pissed me off to no end.

I found the movie to be a nice ride and Liev was truly sensational. Hugh did not disappoint and Ryan's short stint on the movie served the purpose. Taylor even did a pleasing job.

I think they should make a Wolvie in Japan too. The story could be quite simple. His samurai training, falling in love wit Mariko (one could put in Sunfire since they're somehow related and he is a member of the X-Men and the Marauders like Gambit), put in Mariko as Daken's mother instead of Itsu (literary license like the one they took with the Sabertooth/Dog Logan thing), and put in Romulus who manipulates Ogun/Silver Samurai or something. Killing of Mariko, kidnapping the baby Daken...and then a showdown between Ogun/Silver Samurai and Logan, but the baby's gone...only to pop up in Wolvie 3 set after X3 wit an older Daken and really make the Romulus saga then. What do you think?
P.S> I really liked how they pulled off Deadpool's survival at the end. Not so keen about the laser-shootin eyes and the barakka blades though. but otherwise two times too amazing ;)

Has anyone tried searching for the alternate endings on YouTube?

There's one of Wolverine in a bar... It makes it pretty clear where in the world he is.  It just screams sequel.

HULK VS WOLVERINE!!! Please Marvel/Fox bring the fight to the big screen I'm begging you! But Yeah Daken could work, but with Wolverine's long history they really could take him anywhere...Japan but the thing is with that is they can't use Deathstrike - (X2), Maybe Omaga Red? and what will they do with Victor? ahhhhh so many questions...So Many Answers!

    "
I like the idea of Wolverine vs. Hulk on the big screen, but I would also like to see the return of Deapool with his mouth re-opened "
Same Here, But I'm more of a Wolverine fan then Deadpool fan so right now I'm trying to see how there going to show more Logan's history in the world (But Deadpool was great, "Okaaay, Everyone's Dead!" I love that part!)"

I'll agree with these ones. HULK vs Wolverine is some hot stuff, but I think that there will be soon an Avenger movie with Hulk against them, so I don't think it will happen.

Meanwhile, an Age of apocalipse movie would be a great thing, but Age of Apocalipsy is not well known enough by public, I think funding this movie will be a great risk, beside of that, it would be a very very costly movie. (Think of it, Nuclear Warfare, cosmic travel, more mutant than you will ever see in a Movie -Including X-men last stand- and a global war scale. Epic, and waaaaay expensive !)

Alpha Flight... I would say it's not gonna happen...My bet is on a Japanese Saga, even if I have doubt about that too !

    Yes!
They should invite a proper Yuriko!

But I would love to see the Alpha Flight.

I would like to see fans vote on the topic of the next wolverine movie. I went to the movie this weekend and wasn't happy. These movie writers and executives owe marvel fans around the world a great trilogy and this movie shouldn't be a part of it. Thanks

The Japan ending pretty much gave it away. Either we meet straight as hell Mariko, Itzu, get a crack at Daken, or have Jackman practice his swashbuckling and blade running. Yes, you heard it, Samurai!Wolverine.

But someone said Massacre, I want Massacre.
