Wolverine is supposed to be the best there is at what he does, right? What he does isn't very nice, right? Then I would expect to see a bit of red in his comics. With Wolverine Weapon X, you'll notice there is a "Parental Advisory" on the cover. That should mean we won't get a watered down version of Logan, right?
The Good:
Deathlok. This isn't necessarily the same Deathlok you might be expecting (there has been more than one, after all). Deathlok is here on a mission. Things don't look good for those who are on his list. Wait until you see who's next on his list (hint, it's not Wolverine). We also get some nice non-action scenes where Logan and Steve Rogers go out after Steve's return. It's stuff like this that let's us see the human side of the characters. While we do crave the heavy action, it's good to see that there's more than just action.
The Bad:
I did enjoy Steve and Logan going out but some of it felt a little cliche. Logan's trying to be a tough guy and not let his true feelings show. Also, take one guess what happens when they go drinking at a bar. Hope the bar has insurance. I also have to say that the Deathlok story feels a little too similar to Terminator. Deathlok was more than just a Terminator clone. But it will be cool seeing the action in the next issue.
The Verdict:
I wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of yet another Wolverine series when this started. But we did lose the regular title when it became Dark Wolverine. I also didn't care for
Strikeforce X. But if this series can give us more...adult or violent adventures with Wolverine, I'm all for it. Yes Wolverine has a broad appeal but he should be a deadly foe to his enemies. He has freakin' claws. What else is going to use them for besides slicing people up? I'm definitely looking forward to the next issue.
