Is This Wolverine Comic The Best There Is?

Behold the release of another Wolverine comic. What makes this different is the fact that is is clearly not for kids.

    The Good

If you've read Charlie Huston's Moon Knight or his novels, you know he's a man that can put out some gritty comics. For a Wolverine comic with the subtitle The Best There Is, there had better be some grittiness to it. To add to the story, Juan Jose Ryp's crazy-overly-detailed art captures every single drop of blood when the violence begins. There is so much detail in the art that you'll want to go back and look over each panel once again. You may wonder where this story would fit in with Wolverine's continuity but that's just something you shouldn't worry about. There is mention of Wolverine's other teams but this is strictly a solo story.

Why is there a parental advisory? Besides the violence depicting people getting their heads chopped off, there is also the language. While the language is censored using ####, the fact that it's implied gives it a more mature theme. Wolverine or the bad guys here wouldn't call someone a poopie-head so the fact that they would be using coarse language makes complete sense.

    The Bad

It's another Wolverine book. I like Wolverine as much as the next person, maybe a little more. There's just been way too many different books. I can accept that trying to figure out Wolverine's continuity could drive me insane. I'm just not completely sold on another Wolverine book, even if it's going to contain hardcore violence. I'm excited about seeing where Huston will take Wolverine but I can't say I'm overly excited over the predicament Wolverine finds himself in in this first issue.

    The Verdict

Charlie Huston's past writing and Juan Jose Ryp's art will make you want to check this out. There is a parental advisory is on the cover for a reason. I heard about the violence before reading this issue and I'm happy to say that it didn't feel too gratuitous. If Wolverine is the best there is at what he does, I expect there to be some blood. Base on what happens to Wolverine, there's no reason he would hold back. Even though he's been working over the years to keep his anger and violence in check, some times there are moments you just need to cut loose. I may not be completely sold on the book but I will return to see what shenanigans Wolverine gets into next month.

      Be yourself Logan 0

I don´t think this is a good Wolverine book since Charles Huston couldn´t capture Logan´s essence into this title. Hair stylist, dancing and prancing? Going to party just almost getting his ass kicked? Captured by two morons after a couple of brewskies? No way that this man in this book is the Logan that we know, cherrish and praise. That´s the main reason that I didn´t like this book. The other reasons are: poor dialogues (all of them, the side story, the main thing, the girl with Logan), a wea...

Parent Advisory: Not for Kids! (<-- so true)The comic book starts off in a cage, two unseen people are talking about a Dog. After the "Dog" doesn't come to them, they shock it with a shock collar around it's neck. When you turn the page you see the two men that are speaking and the "Dog" they shocked, which is Wolverine. The two men, who are talking about nothing at all, walk him like a dog to a new cage (and on the way there, he takes a shit in the hallway). The two men complain about how he...
