I like the way Millar isn't giving up too much of the story future and past. The short glimpse into the past leaves me anticipating. Most of all I am seething for the Logan we all know and love to re-emerge from his passive shell. I enjoy the passive aspect but...

Lets face it, Marvel's secondary whore doesn't always have the best comics. They'll slap this dude's face on anything if it will help sell something. He's the equivalent of Superman, unbeatable, boring, and everything a Marvel exec thinks a hip generation would love. I've despised this character from the bottom of my core since I stopped reading Wolverine in 1996. Origin was the first book featuring this guy I actually liked, until now. This book features a different Wolverine/Logan/James/Weapon X... etc. A reformed character trying to make ends meet, WITHOUT hurting anyone. A man struggling with his past, while trying to forget it. A man who'd rather go by Logan than his codename, and he'll correct you as politely as possible each time you screw up. That's what we get from the first part of this story. This actual issue builds on that. Logan, and his only friend, a "blind" Hawkeye head out East to pick up something to make some money to pay off the Hulk Gang. I'm not too keen on Blind Hawkeye, mostly because he doesn't seem very blind at all. Millar is hit or miss with me, I love his work or despise it with the burning of a thousand super-novas. For once, I love it though. He's redefined these characters and made me like them for once, well minus Hawkeye, I'll always have a soft spot for my favorite avenger.
Sadly, the writing ISN'T my favorite part of this book.... McNiven's work, although it is great, isn't my favorite either. Hollowell's work really drags me in with this book. That's right, the colourist is the best part of the book. He really captured a desolite life, trapped in a little house on the praire atmosphere. His colours are dulled, yet brilliant. They fit into this world like a glove, or any other simile.
This book almost got the pick of the week spot. However, House of Mystery barely beat it out. I'm sure the next issue, if it continues in this fashion, will deffinetly get that pick.
