Wolverine #19 - Goodbye Chinatown, Part Three

4

Wolverine finished up some old business with dragons, kung fu and a whooooole lotta opium.

The Good

If you like banter, you'll like this issue - there's plenty of it, and it's not half bad. Seeing Gorilla Man and Fat Cobra quip back and forth ("Your monkey style needs work!") makes me want them to have their own TV adventure show together, and that's good character building.

When I reviewed the last issue, I found that the book read like an old Kurt Russel-esque movie, and that continued this month. Brews are exchanged, the bad guys get their asses whupped, everyone gets to live happily ever after, and we get a cameo from Spider-Man.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

The Bad

For some reason I didn't like the art as much in this issue, especially near the end. Things kind of descended into this weird Rob Liefeld-y place and I'm not sure it suited him that much.

The Verdict

Now that Wolverine has tied up his loose ends, he can move back to New York and finally get this School started up. I may be alone with this, but would anyone else like his book turn into his "downtime" between classes?

While Logan's been a big part of the X-Men, he hasn't necessarily been in an advisor role like this before - it could be funny to see how he deals with the stress of managing students, and making sure they don't grow up to be murderous little psychopaths.
