Welcome to the X-Men NOW DIE
Marvel moves into a post Schism world with the start of a new ongoing, Wolverine and the X-Men. Logan has taken his X-Men home to the ruins of the old Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and has rebuilt it into the Jean Grey Institute.
That’s right Logan the Wolverine is the headmaster….of a school…that teaches people things. He isn’t doing it on his own Kitty Pryde,Iceman,Beast and many others. You can’t just build a completely self sufficient school and call it a school you need the Goverments approval. That’s what this issues deals with that dreaded walkthrough by callous bureaucrat types. This won’t go smoothly the school this walkthrough this book none of it.
You can argue the merits or splitting the X-Men and relaunching Uncanny X-Men but the idea of Wolverine running a school is kind of of interesting.
At first the art by Chris Bachalo wasn’t gelling with me. It just looked to cartoony and obtuse for my liking. as the issue went on though it grew on me and it really helped with the sloppy day one of school feel of this.
What I did love from the start is the dialog written by Jason Aaron. If its Professor X giving Logan some pointers or Kitty freaking out at the idea of being known as Head Mistress a large majority of of it is funny.
This comic is brimming with life which is a feeling I don’t often get from comics. Where this comic goes is unknown hopefully it focuses on the trials and tribulations of the Jean Grey Institute.
