Is Wolverine Getting Out of Hell?

The final part of Wolverine Goes To Hell but actually the story won't be completely over. How could he possibly escape Hell?

The Good

The best part of this story arc has been the psychological effects he's facing while in Hell. Continuing from the last issue, Wolverine is now face-to-face with his father. You can imagine this won't be easy on him. Will he want to lash out or will he be seeking his approval? What about that giant Hell-sword? Will Puck or anyone else try to escape from Hell with Wolverine? Are we going to see Sabretooth finally return to the Marvel Universe? All these questions and more are answered in this issue. There's also the Earthly battle over Wolverine's human body. The backup story also tells how how Wolverine ended up in Hell to begin with.

The Bad

Throughout the arc I've had a hard time accepting this as the Hell. We've seen many different versions in Marvel Comics alone. Wolverine is a tough character but I still think he'd have a harder time in trying to escape from Hell. I'm still curious as to why someone like Puck and Mariko would be in the same Hell as Sabretooth. They may have done some bad things but I guess they didn't try asking for forgiveness when their time was up. I also still don't understand (or really care about) Wolverine's girlfriend. Maybe we'll find out in issue 5.1 about her. This is the last issue of the arc but the story isn't completely over.

The Verdict

Will Wolverine be able to escape from Hell? If you've read the solicits (or other X-titles featuring Wolverine) you already have an idea. The confrontation between Wolverine and his father is interesting and says something about who Wolverine is today. You'll be on the edge of your seat to see if people like Wolvie's dad, Puck, Sabretooth, Mariko and anyone else try to escape from Hell with Wolverine. We find out more about how he actually got sent to Hell in the first place. This entire arc was a bit of a bumpy ride for me but the ending opens the door for the next chapter.

I think Wolverine asked why mariko was they and the devil said it was because she was part of the yakuza or something like that.

Let me start out by saying that I was probably the one person who was the most anti Wolverine up until perhaps a year ago. While I loved the guy as a kid on the 90's X men animated, my views and tastes for comics became more pretentious. The Conclusion to the Logan goes to hell arc ends in a anti-climatic way. The Good There is plenty of action in this issue and the art still stands on its own.
