thanosrules's Winter Soldier #1 - The Longest Winter, part 1 review

In the Right Place, At the Right Time

Highly Recommended!

I really enjoyed this book! It was a great jumping on point to a great new series. It reads like a spy novel and looks like a video game, the likes of MW3.

I thought the concept and plot were fantastic. The story has been setup for an exciting arc that should take us through a great number of issues. Not only do we see Bucky and Natasha's primary mission (search and destroy sleeper agents), we see his target's primary mission (take out Doctor Doom - which may not be all that bad, considering) - orchestrated in a true "high espionage" fashion. All this, and we still have time for steamy relationship details...

The art was extremely well done, and fit the story perfectly. It was a fantastic marriage of what appears to be drawing transitioning to painting. Either way, it look very realistic, kept up with the action, and matched the violence with gritty detail.

This is Issue 1 of the new Winter Soldier series. This is Bucky basically trying to make up for his mistakes but in a seriously great way. He is also has the help of the Black Widow and Jasper Sitwell. The cover is great I love the art and the background images of Bucky's past really adds to the feel of the issue. The story is very good there are plenty of surprises in this issue. This is a spy book so obviously there is going to be a lot of guns and espionage and there is. The art is very good I...
