The Supreme Soviets were better known as the People's Protectorate after the Soviet Union was dissolved. Eventually the team would break up and its members merged with the Soviet Super Soldiers to form the new Russian team, Winter Guard.

The current roster consist of a new Darkstar, new Red Guardian, Crimson Dynamo and Ursa Major. Recently, the Winter Guard encountered She Hulk, Doc Samson and General Thunderbolt Ross who were investigating the death of Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination.
