Edit
Possessing a ghostlike appearance and powers to match, Will-O-The-Wisp is one of Spider-Man's eeriest allies. jackson Avrad was a scientist who specialized in electromagnetic research. When faced with the danger of losing his funding, he began to work late into the night, desperate to prove that his research could produce concrete and commercial results. Working without any real rest, avrad grew careless and caused a unfortunate accident. A gravimetric power surge plugged Avrad into a self-sustaining magnetic field, and somehow caused the molecules i his body to gradually disperse.
Falling apart
Instead a dying, Avrad learned that he could control his molecules and keep them together. Avrad feared that he would eventually lose his control of his new powers, and contacted Dr. Jonas Harrow (the criminal surgeon who had given Hammerhead his powers). While pretending to help Avrad, Harrow planted a device in his skull that forced him to obey Harrow's commands. Under his influence, Avrad committed a number of robberies, and this led to a clash with Spidey. With Spidey's aid, however, Avrad managed to free himself from Harrow's control.
