Dr. Summers, one of Barry Allen's college friends, was a vulcanologist who first saw the deadly cloud creatures. He later returned, requesting Iris West's help researching an unidentified piece of metal he had found on his archeological expedition (where he predicted the infasion of the cloud creatures). Iris gladly agreed, believing it would make a nice piece for his reporting job at Picture News. To help Dr. Summers, however, Iris had to cancel a date she had with Barry Allen, who becomes suspisous that Iris is sweet on Wiley Summers.
