    Wildcat

Character » Wildcat appears in 1231 issues.

Pro-boxing star Ted Grant, inspired by stories of The Green Lantern, became a superhero to clear his name. Wildcat has served as a mentor to many younger heroes including Batman and Black Canary.

In the DC Reboot, should he get a Power-Revamp?

    Just a quick though:

Assuming that Ted Grant is a part of the new Earth-2 that is coming with the new wave of titles, he's probably not going to have his son tag along with him. I think I for one would like to see his Were-Cat form added to the list of his abilities. However I would like him to not use it often -- just when he felt it was absolutely necessary, sort of like a pride thing.

Anyone else amused at the idea?

Amused, perhaps. Disappointed at the reality that his son will be vanished... I wouldn't mind the incorporation of the ability, aside from the fact that it near-permanently makes his next generation a pure duplicate and thus unnecessary... I wonder if they're going to retain the multi-lives element?

I remember bringing this up and almost getting internet stoned to death BUT I think Wild Cat should be a world champion MMA fighter and literly the world's best H2Her, better than Batman even.

It's weird that Jay and Alan have been confirmed along with the original Atom and that Wildcat hasn't........anyway I'd rather leave him without powers unless he's on the same team as Batman

@BlackArmor: I'm pretty sure Robinson confirmed Ted in a fairly early interview, atleast once.

I want him powerless. I like the gritty, old-school no frills version.

    Grabs stoned.

But wouldn't the prospect of him having a secret power to pull in a "when-all-of-the-team-is-down" scenario?

@ Jake Fury and spiderbat87: I have to go old-school on this subject. To give Wildcat ANY manner of super power does violence to the character. I dig the strict boxing background, but there would be no harm in depicting him as an MMA or UF champ because that approach leaves his core intact while giving him a contemporary edge.

No. Ted Grant so badass he doesn't need super powers or fancy gadgets.

…@DJ1107: Exactly. If a writer wanted to expand his background from boxing...make him, for instance, a master of all forms of hand-to-hand combat, a la Willie Garvin...that could work. But keep it simple. Batman doesn't have supernormal abilities, either, and he's done all right.

I dunno, there is something about being a boxer from that era in particular that's kinda key to the character. It'd be like saying Cap fought in Vietnam instead of ww2.
