Aelfyre "Whitey" Whitemane, a member of the Kymellian race resembling humanoid horses, came to stop Dr. James Power from using his new invention, an antimatter generator that siphoned energy from an alternate dimension. Whitey knew it had the potential to wipe out entire planets. The rival species of the Kymellians, the Snarks, attempted to steal it. Whitey had befriended the four adolescent children of Dr. Power when Whitey crash landed his spacecraft near the Power's home. Whitey suffered fatal injuries in the following battle with the Snarks, but before dying he bestowed each of his abilities to the four Power children. The Power children became the super heroic Power Pack, and each child had code-names.
Alex Power code-named Gee had the power to control the effect gravity had on him and whoever or whatever he was touching as well. Julie Power code-named Lightspeed was given the power of flight at speeds equal to that of light (with a rainbow trail). Jack Power code-named Mass Master could dissipate into a large cloud-like form or compress himself into a "Barbie-doll" size while retaining his original weight. Katie Power code-named Energizer could absorb molecules with a touch and convert them into pure energy making her glow brightly and able to shoot energy balls from her body.
Power Pack formulated a rescue mission to save their parents, Dr. James and Margaret Power, from the Snarks. Power Pack hid their duel identities from their parents. Power Pack dealt with alien threats and employed Whitey's intelligent spacecraft, the Smartship Friday.
Power Pack was created by Louise Simonson and June Brigman. They were the writer and the penciller for Power Pack's first appearance in Power Pack vol 1 #1 (8/1984). Bob Wiacek was the inker for this issue. James and Margaret Power were also based on Walt Simonson and his wife, Louise.
Power Pack generally used their powers in emergencies or to fight super-villains. The use of their powers became a matter of debate amongst the siblings. In the beginning, they did not agree about using their powers to help their friends with normal problems or keeping their powers a secret from their parents and friends.
Eventually, Power Pack would discover the consequences and the responsibilities of having super-powers and learn to make difficult decisions. Power Pack became allies with other super-heroes and had several team-ups with the X-Men, the New Mutants, and Cloak and Dagger.
While Power Pack has battled several foes, the Snarks and the Bogeyman were major enemies that often threatened the Power family. Franklin Richards, using the name Tattletale due to his ability to perceive possible futures, became an unofficial member of the team, as did Kofi a Kymellian relative of the late Whitey.
Power Pack's powers often switched from one member to another. After one such incident, the children adopted the names of Destroyer (Alex), Molecula (Julie), Counterweight (Jack), and Starstreak (Katie). The team helped relocate the Kymellians to a new world. Alex even appeared to transform into a Kymellian, though this was revealed to be a pseudoplasm duplicate planted by Technocrat a domineering Kymellian. Alex joined the New Warriors, stealing the energies of his brother and sisters to become Powerpax and then Powerhouse. He restored his siblings' powers when he left the New Warriors.
Power Pack is once again active, with Alex going by the name of Zero-G. Power Pack recently fought off a squad of Snark invaders. They continue to fight for our planet.

Meeting the superheroes-communityThe Power Pack
After their first mission, Power Pack soon established itself as a young superheroes team, with Alex being their unofficial leader. Mainly because he was the eldest. They had their own costumes and often teamed-up with other heroes, working with larger superhero teams, like the X-men and the Fantastic Four and they even became a trusted sight for the amazing Spider-man. Early in their careers, the team befriended Franklin Richards, who came looking for the team after he had precognitive dreams of Power Pack getting attacked by the Snark prince Jackal. These dreams turned out to be a reality when the team was in fact attacked by the Jackal. Power Pack, aided by Franklin, fought the Jackal in a lengthy battle and won. After this, the team accepted Franklin as a member of the team, codenamed Tattletale.
While Power Pack was doing battle on the Snark planet, the team went through their first 'power switch'. Team members could 'trade' their own power for one of their brother's or sister's. Besides the fact that they could now change powers at will, the team also found out that they had a more then uncanny ability to heal faster then any normal human could. The next time the team switched powers, they got their original powers back. Power Pack went on to battle many more menaces. They came into contact with the being known as Kurse a couple of times to delay his rampage.
During the Mutant Massacre, Power Pack tried to assist the mutant Morlocks in the sewers who were being slaughtered by the Marauders. The team and Wolverine fought Sabretooth, whom was a Marauder back then and was killing Morlocks.
Fall of the Mutants
, Power Pack fought the
Horsemen of Apocalypse
. Power Pack was regularly endangered by Douglas Carmody who hated mutants. Carmody believed Power Pack to be mutants that he needed to expose to the public. When
came to pass, Carmody became the demon known as the Bogeyman and he would directly attack Power Pack. One of the biggest villains of the team was the supernatural
. The Bogeyman attacked Power Pack in front of their parents. The four young heroes were forced to respond with their powers to save their parents. Power Pack defeated the Bogeyman as he fell into a pit of fire.
After many, many adventures the Power Pack team decided to take it more easy and start living their normal lives again. This worked out for most of the time, except when Alex briefly returned to the superhero life, aiding the New Warriors. Alex was recruited by both Bandit and Hindsight in order to help stop the Sphinx and rescue the time displaced Warriors. He borrowed all of the team's powers, making Alex stronger then ever and naming himself PowerPax. He initiated a power-transference from his siblings in order to be a greater help to the Warriors without the need to involve the rest of the Power Pack. Afterwards, he returned their abilities back to them and promised not to take them again, but was later forced to reclaim them again to aid in the Warriors' battle against the Soldiers of Misfortune. Eventually, Alex explained to Julie and Jack his reasons for taking the Pack's powers into himself, which angered the rest of the team, especially Jack.
Alex's final mission with the Warriors was when they fought the Dire Wraith, Queen Mother Volx, (who had stolen Power Pack's Smartship Friday). The team succeeded in destroying her plans but at the cost of nearly destroying Friday, Power Pack's old smart-ship and friend.
The 2000 mini-series and in between
Soon after this peace returned to the Power's house. It looked like a time of peace for the team, in witch they could fight as the Power Pack, but also enjoy their normal lives. To protect their identities, the team now wore masks whenever they appeared as Power Pack. The team had to return to their old alter-ego's again when the Snarks attacked their home. A battle was fought but the kids managed to defeat them once again and save the day.
A time leap forward. Julie, now older, decided to retire from the hero business for good and left her home for some time to pursue a personal life. During a meeting with the team known as the
(a support group for superheroes who didn't want to fight anymore) she decided that she would like to take on an acting career (witch could be seen as very uncharacteristic since Julie was always the one whom studied the most). Julie however had to use her powers once more when her team encountered the team of teenage heroes known as the Runaways. While Julie fought a member of the group named
, she felled a strange connection to her witch she could not place yet..
While both Alex and Jack where attending a birthday party for Franklin Richards, Alex was invited to join Mr. Fantastic's new Future Foundation, a group of some of the best young minds. While Alex already had played a mayor role in the series, Julie, Jack and Katie also appeared in the comic.
Julie eventually enlisted to the Avengers Academy, saying goodbye to her former plans of living just a normal life or acting career. There she admitted to another student to sometimes have feelings for girls as well as she does for boys, but she is not just sure yet. Julie remains at the Academy for now, but also visits her home and her brothers and sister as often as she can.

In 2008 a mini-series named Power Pack: Day One was made that retooled the Pack's origin.
The last Power Pack mini-series to date was Thor and the Warriors Four. Although Power Pack is not named in the title, it is in fact a Power Pack mini-series, starring the whole team and the creative team behind most of the Power Pack mini-series.
