Back in November, Marvel teased the death of the Watcher. Today, we get our first peak into the upcoming summer event, ORIGINAL SIN written by Jason Aaron and drawn by Mike Deodato Jr.

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. Today, Marvel is proud to announce ORIGINAL SIN, the eight-part blockbuster comic event of the summer, from critically acclaimed writer Jason Aaron (Amazing X-Men, Thor: God of Thunder) and red-hot artist, Mike Deodato Jr. (Amazing Spider-Man, New Avengers)!

On the moon, the dead body of Uatu, the Watcher is discovered. His home destroyed. Looted of its valuable alien technology. Now, the manhunt is on. And the biggest heroes of the Marvel Universe – Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Black Widow, and more are on the hunt for his murderer.

But no one is ready for the secret knowledge the Watcher held. Secrets that will shake the Marvel Universe and it’s heroes to their very core!

I doubt I'll read it, because money and newly found lack of interest in comic book events, but it looks decent.

Aaron has been killing it on God of Thunder but I'm very hesitant on his event writing. Plus another summer blockbuster no one demanded or cried for given to us by Marvel instead of improving their range of solo books. Once again, Marvel's biggest downfall is the slew of events forced on comic book readers unnecessarily.

@life_without_progress: What do you mean by "Another Jason Aaron event?" I mean, the only other Marvel events that he's written were written by a team of 3-5 different writers, so I wouldn't really call them "Jason Aaron Events".

i hope its a character we already know. i would love to see it be doom bc well one doom knows the watcher hes smart enough to know how to kill him and doom with the watchers tech (and eyes?) he could be the biggest threat again in the marvel universe. i would also love to see a hero turn villain just bc i feel we need it. lol wut if spock did it ?

But, it might be a different kind of story, which could be refreshing. After Fear Itself, AoU and AvX, Hickman made me believe again in events, maybe this one will be good too ?

Forget the death of the Watcher, I'm more worried about Marvel mentioning this is their first event of 2014

I feel the same way. Events are things that are supposed to feel special. Not something we get every 2 months...

I'm conflicted about this. Aaron is writing but the premise doesn't really grab me. I like the characters involved (OG Nick Fury and Dr. Strange) but I heard the phrase Dr. Strange and Punisher buddy cop relationship and I cringed.

.... No we don't need a mother poorly written hero turned villain story just look at how Bendis wrote Sentry.

As to the story, its written by Jason his Schism event showed he's unable to write multiple characters with differing opinions so I'm going to skip it. Frankly I'm shocked he's done so well with Thor given how my views of Street Level writers are better off writing grounded or indie titles in general. Good to see OG Nick Fury hope his new son meets an untimely death of bad Jackson knockoffs with OG Nick coming back to SHIELD.

I said to a friend of mine straight away that I'm expecting it to be Dr Doom but it could be Iron man (back on the drink again and Uatu tries to give him done friendly advice and POW!) it could be Red Skull (I'm not how he's getting on with prX's brain and that) or it could of been Thanos as they seem to love him at the moment.

With the exception of Nick Fury, the cast of the first group is pretty much the same one that these events are always focused on: Cap, Iron Man & Thor. At least the second group is made up of a rather interesting diverse group: Punisher, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, Ant-Man & Black Panther.

No doubts really about the creative talent, here's to hoping they deliver.

The reason this story seems pointless is we've had a a story of Galactus's death and he came back and with Uatu thats nothing new he's dead wait for oh say two to four years and boom he's back. Sure he'll have replacement in his stead similar in vein different personality but thats about it. Still its for best Uatu is better off away from such terrible creative teams from marvel he deserves some R&R in limbo with rest of the barely used Marvel and DC characters. Perhaps him and Elongated man will form a detective partnership and Sue being the coordinator of the operations. They'll put Heroes For Hire to shame.

This doesnt start until summer they have time for at least one more before then.

Despite not being a fan of them killing off the watcher, this is the kind of event I might be interested in buying if Marvel hadn't been beating their events with a dead horse (or somethin' to that effect) for the past five years. But hey, all the other architects have had the opportunity to tarnish their stellar reputations with half-baked events that went nowhere, I suppose Aaron deserves his shot too.

@rubear: If you haven't already noticed, one of Marvel's more prominent traits is that it is a die hard copycat for anything that DC does. But then again it is said that mimicry is the most sincere form of flattery…

and lets not forget who came out first... Namor or Aquaman (google it ;)

@serrure: much like Catwoman came before Black Cat, Green Arrow before Hawkeye, Doom Patrol before X-Men, Deathstroke before Deadpool, Darkseid before Thanos, etc. 95% of the time Marvel is copying ideas from DC and the other half trying to stay relevant through movies.
