Origin

Janet Van Dyne is the daughter of a wealthy scientist named Vernon Van Dyne. Since her father was wealthy she grew up to be a self-centered girl. One day her father was doing an experiment but accidentally unleashes a monster from an alternate dimension. Vernon was killed by the monster. Janet would ask Hank Pym to help her defeat the monster, and Pym would agree and give her some of his “Pym Particles” and gave her the ability to grow wings and shoot energy when she shrinks. The two team up together and defeated the monster and sent it back to its own dimension.

Later Janet and Hank joins the “Avengers” as Janet calls it, and are one of the founding members of the Avengers. During the Avengers Janet would occasionally complement the attractive males in the Avengers in hopes to make Hank jealous. There relationship has never been stable. Hank’s research and experiments as a scientist kept causing him to put off proposing to her. One day a villain named Yellowjacket broke into the Avengers mansion and claims that he killed Hank and proceeded to kidnapping Janet. However a big turn of events would take place when Janet decided to marry Yellowjacket. They had a wedding where even the heroes showed up. Most of the Avengers disapproved of this wedding, but it would get delayed when some criminals come to attack it. During the fight, it would be revealed that Yellowjacket was in fact Hank and because of an experimental accident, caused him to have schizophrenia. Janet reveals that she knew about this and just tried to use it to her advantage to marry Hank. They eventually got married.

Her relationship with Hank would not get any better. Hank became mentally unstable because of his frequent exposure to chemicals and the size changing. He eventually became completely paranoid, and during his breakdown he became very abusive. One day he struck Janet and decided to make up a plan to make it look like Hank was the right one. His plan did not work and Hank was exposed for what he did to Janet, he was soon expelled from the Avengers and Janet filed for divorce. After Hank left, she stayed with the Avengers and would eventually have a fling with Hawkeye. Later Hank was able to regain his mental state to normal and returned to the Avengers. Hank and Janet started talking again and would slowly return to a romantic relationship. Hank proposes to Janet again but she turned him down.

During the crisis with the Avengers, Janet was knocked into a coma by Scarlet Witch. Hank stayed by her side until she re-awoke. The two of them decided to retire from the Avengers and move to Oxford to start a new life. When the Civil War hit, Janet was pro-registration and started her own reality show.

Although Hank was on the pro-registration side of the Vivil War, Janet didn't get involved until after the war ended. Janet joined the Mighty Avengers and was apart of there battle with the new Ultron who looked much like her. She has also recently been given a new growth formula by Hank, so she can be the Wasp and Giant girl whenever she needs to be.

Alternate Realities

Earth-1610

In the Ultimate universe, Janet is an Asian descendant and she holds 2 P.h. Ds, she is also a mutant but it is unknown everyone except SHIELD and Hank. Her mutant powers allows her to shrink and grow wings when she is shrunken. She can also produce energy blasts which act like wasp stings. Her powers have side-effects however, it includes causing her to eat insects, forming her own larval nests, and laying eggs. She started dating Hank during college, but even during college Hank was extremely abusive to her. She was a roommate of Betty Ross, and she remembers times where Janet was missing chunks of hair.

Their relationship would not change in time though. Hank tried to change his behavior with medication and joining the Ultimates program. Janet also became great friends with Captain America, which made Hank jealous. After a humiliating loss the the Hulk, he took out his frustration on Janet. He started attacking Janet, which caused her to change size and start firing wasp-blasts at him. Hank got even more angry and ordered his ants to attack Janet. All the ants began biting the wasp size Janet and she was left in a coma due to the ant attack. After Captain America tracked down Hank and beat him to a pulp for what he did to Janet, he went to visit her. Janet became outraged at Captain America for beating Hank and was embarrassed at people talking about her personal life.

However, after they finished a mission, Janet and Captain America reconciled and would slowly develop a romantic relationship. When Hank came back to reconcile with her, Janet refused. However, Janet would tell Hank about her relationship problems with Captain America, stating that his age gap and the friends he hangs out with is making it hard for her to connect. Janet would continue to see Hank secretively.

She is easily defeated by Giant Man by getting her head bit off and spat out by Giant Man. Black Panther escapes Giant Man's place and takes Wasp's head with him. She tries to persuade Black Panther to let her have a bite of him, but is denied of this request. They are found by Magneto's Acolytes and they are taken by the Acolytes to Asteroid M, with the exception of one acolyte, because Black Panther had thrown Wasp's head at the acolyte, killing him. Wasp is given a cybernetic body and used for experimentation to find a cure for the virus. Later on, Wasp bites Black Panther after he was assassinated by one of the acolytes. Black Panther becomes a zombie.
