A few weeks ago I had reported that 'Red,' Warren Ellis' popular Vertigo graphic novel would be seeing a live-action film adaptation that had already been linked to Bruce Willis as well as Morgan Freeman. I kind of figured that it was only a matter of time until we saw the name of a director attached to the proposed film! Did I ever tell you how much I love being right? Movie director Robert Schwentke has recently been tied to the film, and according to MTV news, the director of "The Time Traveler's Wife" is presently in the midst of finalizing his plans with Summit Entertainment and is "close to signing."
MTV happened to catch up with the illustrator for "Red," Cully Hamner, and he seemed apprehensive about the progression of the live-action movie adaptation.
"I have to point out that, to my knowledge, neither actor is a done deal," he said. "And even if I'm wrong and they are, it doesn't mean the movie will even get made."
While this news may not sound too promising, the fact that Summit is one step closer to closing in on a director to helm the series is great news. Progression is often somewhat slow in the movie business; so you can bet that there is still a very good chance that the film will get made!
This is fantastic news for fans of the comic book series that are looking forward to its transition to the big screen! Are you excited about the prospect of seeing " Red" hit the big screen? Did you read the comic book series?
